You know that you're a badass when Clapton plays rhythm for you

i saw him in London about two years ago when having diner on a restaurant a friend of mine worked, he looked a lot tired but he was funny when reacting to my friends talk

However people criticise Eric he's never too arogant to share the stage, at the 'Crossroads' gig he'll always step back and give others their chance to shine. Or, as here play rhythm to someone else. The bugger just loves playing guitar.

I saw Dire Straits live at Knebworth a long time ago-midway through the concert Mark said a friend of his was going to play with him for a while. Eric walked on stage and the pair of them just jammed for about 30 minutes-just brilliant, both of them.

Some years back (2001) Mark was in the seat in front of mine on a train from DC to Philly. Another fellow was seated next to Mark and Mark's business manager was next to me. I softly asked the manager if I could lean over and say 'hi' to Mark. Hell man, I was 50+ years old not a groupie. Said hello to Mark and sat down proud that I had met the man. I continue on to NYC. What really deflated me was finding in my briefcase the latest copy of Vintage Guitar Magazine with his likeness on the cover. So I could have had his autograph, too. Damn.

Eric got the nickname slowhand NOT because of how slow he played but because in the early days he'd solo so furiously that he'd often break a guitar string. He'd then change strings on stage and while he was doing this the audience would start a slow hand clap 👏
