How about start planning it now, and make it next month. Just shot a feature with a talented actor/producer with borrowed equipment and less than a thousand dollars. It’s neither of our first features, but we’ve been in development hell with trying to get real money. A few props, a few hotels, and hundreds of miles of highway with interesting spots here and there. The tools are available, and money guys think it’s weird if filmmakers aren’t making films, or, when it’s been 13 years since your last solo directed feature (like me). (Co-directed another feature since then, and music videos and shorts, but not the same thing.) Don’t wait you let someone allow you to tell a compelling story, go out and do it.

10 Cloverfield Lane was my favorite film of 2016! Really awesome to see y'all giving Dan Trachtenberg some spotlight.

I don't wanna be mean or rude or sound insulting. So I don't wanna hurt you but if it was your favourite movie in that year, then your taste ( and now I really don't want to hurt you ) is very bad. It was an OK movie. But can't be called as the best of 2016. Even my country's short that won the Oscar is far superior.
@tsarnicholasii2746 жыл бұрын

Great Episode, and Loved "10 Cloverfield Lane"! Everything he said he brought to the project, i.e. bringing in humor and making John Goodman's character more relateable, were the things I really loved about the movie. My favorite scene was the "I think we're alone now" sequence. Its a great down-moment where you feel very comfortable with this new makeshift family. ALSO, Very nice to hear that you don't have to schmooze at all the parties, because I am also not inclined to the schmoozing.

To all those making their first (and whatever number) feature. Good luck, have the time of your life and don’t forget to love the stress. We get to work in an artistic field that REQUIRES collaboration. That’s the gift. We have to communicate and build as a community with one goal. If that’s not the point of humanity, I don’t know what is. Love, Obi.

Hi Ryan, Thanks for countinelly putting out great information for us filmmakers. I have a question that is really tuff for me and I know that you have a lot of practical knowledge about. I know this is asked a lot but please take into consideration my needs. I usually direct short films here in the Pittsburgh area but moving to El Centro CA because of the military. I like A LOT of camera MOVEMENT and shoot a lot on the ronin, so rolling shutter is an issue for me. I was going to buy the Red Epic w but found out after digging in my finances it's out my range now. I’m looking for a camera package in the 20,000 range, and that would be appealing to the professional Industry. Thanks, Ryan I know you're a busy man.
