I played around with a industrial directional (laser) speaker back in like 2004. the design was much different than this, but its design was for more industrial applications. for use in stadiums, shopping malls and supermarkets. The idea being when people walked near specific locations of interest they would hear information in regards to whatever they were trying to inform people about. specific, instead of drowning out the entire space with audible advertising. it was also use to deliver some what subliminal messages to encourage people to buy things, or even make specific choices. Magicians use the speaker to send subliminal message such as "queen of hearts" repeatedly, and though you barely hear it you mind does pick it up, and when magician asks you to think about a card, 80% of the time your going to say the card that's been repeatedly played back. And to your shock and amazement they accomplish the mind read trick. Its actually kinda funny, because you see the trick played out by another person before you. The magician knows what cards will be played back . so you come up figuring your going to trick the magician by thinking one card, and then before the choice is given saying another card, but unbeknownst to you, youve given up your first choice and have been manipulated into the card of the magicians choosing. and you never saw it happening.

Laser speakers do not exist. While light can gather information about the physical fluctuations of a surface (vibrations) and translate these in to sound, there is no way in physics to use light to vibrate a solid surface in a way that could convey soundwaves.

The downside is that only high frequency speakers are diretional, bass speakers are not, and it only has high frequency speakers so you'll end up with a gutted sound, without bass.

Can this be mounted on the front of the train, replacing their blasting all over the place horn? I mean here in Melbourne Australia we still use horns routinely and has become unbearable with so many horns going off throughout the day and night. If they could use or trial something like this to blast sound in a beam that covers only the tracks and slightly off to the sides. How good would that be, residents near rail stations to no longer be annoyed by horns blasting routinely throughout the day and night? How well would it perform in the rain? Can it penetrate Glass, as in a car window? Would a windy day cause the beam to fly off to the side? If the train is traveling and the speaker is mounted, what happens to the sound? Does it play back over itself if it is in motion? Who are the leaders now in this technology? I have so many more questions, I could fill-up the internet with all these questions lol

That's a great idea. I don't know who leads the technology now but I have an ultrasonic speaker (years old) by a company called HSS and look on Gamesky's KZbin channel, he reviewed some new directional speakers about a week ago.

@@JonnyMorgan18 does it work when it is raining?
@JonnyMorgan18 Жыл бұрын
@@GizmoGTI I never tried it but I assume so as AFAIK it works by transmitting ultrasound with audible sound carried on it. Ultrasound has no problem going through our bodies for scans.
@gamesnicАй бұрын
It's not really feasible. Ultrasound takes off in intensity by 1dB per meter, so every 3 meters you lose half of the power. A traditional horn has the power needed to warn everyone in the area, plus with the ultrasonic waves being so small I doubt it would make it far in rain. Maybe a few meters

@JonnyMorgan18 Жыл бұрын
The sound beam is too powerful for mics to record without distortion, I've tried it with an HSS speaker, and because they're parametric you have to get really far away before that power diminishes.

How would people imitate this? Sending sound to a Device once you near it? Or enter it's path? I believe certain people are using this process to harass and stalk. Solid evidence is needed to obtain.
