@@dhanvikstories738 According to what sir explained, opposite directions get cancelled. So in the question given for homework, South is 90m, East is 85m, North is 50m, and West is 45m. Applying the rule by Sir, South - North will be 90-50=40, and East - West will be 85-45=40. Applying the Pythagoras theorem, the distance traveled from starting point to ending point = √40²+40² = √1600+1600 = √3200 = 56.56 Here, 56.56 can also be solved if we write √40²+40² as 40√2 Since 40 is common here, the above equation can be written as 40√2. I think you might have already gotten the answer, but I wanted to explain in case you didn't get the answer yet.
