Director Mike Newell - The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society Exclusive Interview

Stefan Pape interviews Director Mike Newell for their latest film The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.
Starring in the film are Lily James (Juliet Ashton), Jessica Brown Findlay (Elizabeth Mckenna), Michiel Huisman (Dawsey Adams), Glen Powell (Mark Reynolds), Tom Courtenay (Eben Ramsey). Lily James plays free-spirited writer Juliet Ashton, who forms a life-changing bond with the delightful and eccentric Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, when she decides to write about the book club they formed during the occupation of Guernsey in WWII.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is in UK cinemas on the 20th of April.

Great explanation from Mr. Newell of the character Juliet Ashton. Being an American guy in my 60's & a WW II buff, I clicked on this movie thinking I might get a little exposure to what the German occupation scenes might share. I was soon overtaken by the characters and the love story. I won't admit how many times I've watched it, it is such a good movie and Lilly James stole my heart! Her accent throughout, well, I would be thrilled to have her read to me, my 15-page homeowners insurance contract, just to hear her speak. Congrats to everyone involved in the making of this movie. A grand-slam hit.

This is the loveliest movie I have ever seen. I can’t count how many times I have escaped into it, but I have never tired of it. I have so fallen in love with each and every one of the characters. Bravo. Just bravo!

I just totally love this movie, I have watched several times. I love and admire all the actors/actresses in this film. However, I would like to mention the child actor, Eli; the beautiful little actress, Kit. As a matter of fact, since Eli does such a great job at the Guernsey post office, I would like to nominate him to be the U.S. Postmaster General, Eli would do a much better job than the guy we have right now. My best wishes to all involved in this movie.

An interesting director. Has some interesting films to his name(Dance With a Stranger, Enchanted April, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Donnie Brasco). I wonder what Notting Hill would have been like, if he had directed it? Not that I don’t like that film, but I think he was part of that team(along within a Hugh Grant and Richard Curtis).
