Well, aespa is one of the top 4th generation groups, so that may be it, lol! In any case, they're a group which debuted under K-pop company SM Entertainment in 2020. Their names are Karina, Giselle, Winter and NingNing. Their concept is about them having virtual counterparts called "aes" which exist in KWANGYA, a plane of existence beyond the digital world. The aes are comprised of data which people post to social media, but, since people only post edited photos and best aspects of their lives to social media, the aes are "perfect" versions of them. In their debut video, Black Mamba, they're introduced to an AI virus called Black Mamba, who seeks to eradicate humans and disconnect them from the aes because she feels that humans treat the aes as disposable. However, through the SMCU series, aespa and aes work together and learn to coexist and be friends. The SMCU series is a very well produced series of three videos, for now, available on KZbin. The story of Spicy takes place in the REAL WORLD, as opposed to KWANGYA, where all of their previous stories take place. In Spicy, they're back in the REAL WORLD after defeating the Black Mamba with the help of naevis, their virtual guide through KWANGYA. naevis lived in a plane of existence between the REAL WORLD and KWANGYA called the FLAT, but, she's been cast out of there because she had to leave it to help aespa beat the Black Mamba, which she wasn't ever supposed to do. In a song preceding the events of Spicy, Welcome To MY World, aespa bring naevis to the REAL WORLD, which causes a timespace disruption. And that's what those curious background glitches are about. I actually feel you might find their previous releases more appealing musically, potentially Next Level and Savage. Either way, appreciate the reaction very much! Great channel.

Someone in the comments already gave an overview of their concept and storyline and what to watch if ever you're interested, I hope you try to give it a shot as well! I agree that most of the live viewers weren't fans and some aired quite a negative perception about aespa's concept despite many people growing to love it, as it is impressive. aespa is avatar + experience + aspect; wherein they navigate (and face the dangers of) vast digital worlds through their "avatar" counterparts. I won't spoil much, but as others have suggested, you can watch aespa's SMCU episodes + other title track MVs, which flesh out the lore. The eps are not lengthy and are filmed really well. After that, this Spicy MV will make sense. Anyway I'm glad you were able to pick up that there was more to the MV than it seemed! You'll find that aespa has a lot to offer, conceptually, discography and talent-wise. Thanks for checking em out!

Long story short. If you see their older MVs they are very CG heavy. There is lore. They are basically stuck in a virtual world working with an AI being to defeat an evil snake lady. They have defeated the evil snake lady! Now for this MV they are back in the real world living it up and partying in celebration (thus the college vibes. Yes they are of age). Now all the weird glitchy stuff we think is because the digital world is leaking into the real world. The evil snake lady might be dead? Maybe she has an eviler twin sibling. We don't know. It's not that deep. LOL

There is actually a theory going around in this MV. This song is the conversation between them and their counterparts. There's an assumption that they are the dopplegangers, and the other 4 real girls are stuck somewhere because of them. That's why they sound like provoking in this MV. There's lore in most of aespa's MV from the first release.

That’s quite the feat lol. Why you would spend that much time disliking videos, I’m not sure. You could do what others have done and provide information and context that you think I should have. Those are my favorite. Someone gave this long, badass explanation of what “aes” are and how their storyline started from Black Mamba… the avatars… the AI member (not sure on that one yet)… and more.
