BABY here ! tHEY HAVE SOME GOOD STUFF ! Let me tell you ! and some of their Mv are just stories : One Shot or Skydive. and i still really like their debut song Warrior. They disbanded in 2018. Some of them still do music as solo artist. Jongup did mostly features and singles with 1 single last year. Young-Jae tried solo but mostly focus on acting. he left for military service in 2022. no new project as far as i know Dae-Hyun also but last time we heard from him he was doing musical. He did his military service 2020-2022 Yongguk the leader, enlisted 2019-2021. Last album released in 2023 and a single this year. Zelo did 1 single and 1 album in 2023. he is 27 so most likely to enlist soon. Just let's not talk about Himchan.

BAP basically influenced and were the og blueprint of the direction 3rd gen and later gen groups went. BTS, Monsta X, Ateez and more groups ran on the path BAP laid out. If you want to understand a little of ateez particularly, BAP is the group they draw a lot of inspiration from most def (Hongjoong is a self declared babys). They were one of the first groups with mascots, one of the first groups with legit world tour in 2013/2014 (USA, Europe, Latam), were performance beasts. They even shut down Times Square in NYC around 2013/2014 way before kpop had any reach (3k people descended there to catch a glimpse of BAP surprising nypd). If a BABYs didn’t give up kpop is 2019, they most likely became a monbebe or atiny.

Hello! A reacter friend of mine who loves your videos saw you posted this, and knew I would love it, so it's my first time watching your reactions. I have to say, I'm so so glad you enjoyed B.A.P so much! There's a lot to know about B.A.P, and their incredible influence on the kpop scene, so I hope that you don't mind how long this comment is going to be. I first need to start with a tiny bit of backstory for B.A.P, as their beginnings in kpop is INCREDIBLY important to this MV in particular. B.A.P debuted in January of 2012 with the song "Warrior", which took the kpop world by surprise in the best of ways. See, at the time, the popular concepts for boy groups tended to be either cutesy or dance-pop, and though B.A.P were not the first group to do a harder, more gritty and aggressive hip-hop based sound, they *were* arguably the first to debut with one. It was considered a very unique sound for kpop, and "Warrior"'s socially conscious lyrics about rising up against societal iniquity further set them apart. They immediately started winning awards, amassed a huge fanbase practically overnight, and are arguably the group that popularized more aggressive concepts as a viable route for a group to take. Over the course of their first two years, they released music at a breakneck speed, along with variety/reality shows, non-stop fanmeets, world tours (they were the first group not from a top 3 company to sell out a North American tour, selling out every seat of their 2013 tour in minutes), and basically everything their company could get them into. They were the first group to have their debut song break the top 10 of the Billboard World Albums chart, and held the record of the kpop group with the most #1 albums on the Billboard World chart up until nearly the end of their careers, despite the events that led to this MV. Speaking of, though I could go on about their incredible achievements for a lot longer, this MV was their first comeback after the biggest hurdle of their careers, and what ultimately killed the group's momentum in the industry. After their first couple years, they released their first full album, with the title track "1004 (Angel)", which ended up as their huge domestic breakout hit. They had already been international fan favorites, and well known and respected in the industry already, but "1004 (Angel)" got them the attention of the general public, winning them their first three music show wins and catapulting them into the public eye in South Korea. Their popularity was soaring, and after a promotions, they embarked almost immediately on their second word tour, slated to cover more than twice the number of countries and shows as their first tour the year prior. However, it was around this time that fans were starting to notice some things that seemed...off. They seemed more worn down all the time, with less energy on stage and fewer smiles at fanmeets. Their already not-huge volume of social media posts dwindled, save for a few cryptic, mildly concerning ones from their leader, Yongguk. Members were sick a little more often. Then their company, TS Ent., announced the cancelation of the South American leg of their tour (ostensibly so they could "rest"), and the group went fairly silent, only doing a few fanmeets, concerts, and one Japanese comback in the next several months, leaving fans worried. The concern that fans were starting to feel became full-blown alarm at the Kpop World Festival in early November of 2014. One member was sick, unable to perform, but singing from a microphone backstage, and the main vocalist, Daehyun, seemed to be barely able to stand. The rest of the group just looked *angry* during the whole performance, and were subltly helping Daehyun. Fans noticed that Daehyun had a bandage on his wrist as well, and though we wouldn't learn of what was going on until a while later, it turned out that Daehyun had been in the hospital for exhaustion, and TS had forced him out against doctor's advice to do the performance, as they couldn't have two members unable to perform. Only days later, it was announced that B.A.P had jointly filed a lawsuit against TS Entertainment for slave contracts, overwork, unfair profit distribution, and unethical business practices. Though we haven't been told exactly why, it is strongly suspected that the reason they had held off from filing the lawsuit for as long as they did was because their youngest member, Zelo, who had debuted at the age of 15, only came of age in October of that year, and they wanted him to be able to participate under his own power. During the lawsuit against TS, many claims were made by B.A.P. Do keep in mind these are all allegations, as the lawsuit was eventually settled, and TS was never convicted of anything they were accused of, but there was strong support for much of it. They said that, since their trainee days, they had all 6 lived in a single bedroom dorm that was in bad repair, with TS occasionally not paying the bills and forcing them to find ways to get water and/or power returned. They had been worked non-stop, often to the detriment of their physical health, with their families paying the bills when they ended up hospitalized. They had only ever been paid once, in one lump sum, more than a year after their debut, and only because they had threatened to sue TS, and what they recieved was less than they would have made doing part-time minimum wage for the year, despite having made TS millions. They were denied contact with their families, or social media access, unless closely monitored, and had been threatened with breach-of-contract lawsuits should they ever step out of line. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that we will ever know the true extent of the abuse they suffered, but friends, family, and some people within the kpop industry that had worked closely with B.A.P did corroborate many things that they had claimed. Further credibility to these claims also comes from the fact that TS, as they continued on after B.A.P's lawsuit, would be eventually sued by at least one member of every group they ever managed, were found to have been failing to pay their general employees, and would eventually go out of business in 2020. The settlement wasn't really that unexpected. TS had been delaying court dates and doing their best to discredit any and everything they said, painting them in the media as greedy, selfish, and uncaring of their fans for filing the lawsuit. This meant that B.A.P, who had made practically no money as artists and were relying on family for legal fees, were losing all the ground that they had made in their first two and a half year. They made every effort to keep in contact with their fans, with Yongguk and Zelo releasing free tracks about how their mistreatment had affected them, Daehyun busking on the street for fans, and them all opening an independent online fancafe when they lost access to their official one. However, despite their earnest efforts, most of the fans they had won with the success of "1004 (Angel)", who didn't know them aside from that hit, hesitated to really support them, as both events and their future were unclear. Long-time fans assumed that there was no coming back from the lawsuit, and many moved on to other groups to follow. So, after almost nothing happening with the lawsuit for the better part of a year, they settled, agreeing to renegotiate their contracts and finish out the remaining time under vastly improved conditions. Yongguk, who joined TS with the promise that he would have far more creative control than he ended up getting at first, started composing and producing a majority of their tracks, instead of only writing most of their lyrics, they all were getting paid a fair amount and allowed to move out of the dorm, and they were given leeway to be more open and authentic about basically everything. Which brings us to "Young, Wild & Free" and the Matrix mini album. Your comparisson to Hala Hala is actually an excellently apt one, what with ATEEZ's storyline being all about fighting against corrupt powers for freedom and expression through music, because that is *exactly* what "Young, Wild & Free" is all about. The entire video, is, essentially, symbolism of the trials they went through. (continued in a reply to this, as I hit the character limit for KZbin comments, I am so sorry)

The version of this MV that was uploaded to TS's channel was a little different from this one, in that it had an extra bit at the beginning, with all the members running through a thick fog, alone and lost, while the intro track from the album plays. The whole track is spoken, and quite short, but says so so much. The lyrics are as follows: "The wind wailed As if the sky was breaking apart Amidst endless hardships and tests The world was not As we wanted it to be As we thought it would be However We held hands again The six of us together all on both feet So no one would fall We got ready to run once again Young Wild and Free In the end, the world is made up of our stories" The culmination of this narration is of the six of them standing in front of the winged lion statue, dressed to their best, having come out of their harrowing ordeal standing strong. From there, there are two main themes of the video, those of being trapped and freedom. The lion is a fierce creature, but caged, yet the members are not held by the cage. The endless room of boilers works to keep things running, like they themselves had been treated as nothing more than mindless machines, keeping TS running, yet they now walk amongst them, no longer bound in place. Yongguk is seen blindfolded and surrounded by cameras, symbolizing how they were expected to remain blind to the injustices to which they were being subjected, and yet he looks directly at the audience, then around at the cameras, showing that they could see how they were being exploited. Youngjae is forced to look at himself, either dead or sleeping on a slab, facing head on the pain of seeing himself kept from truly living. The expensive cars juxtaposed with the crashed ones, the tape holding them back, being stuck inside a spiral of speakers, but then the scenes of Yongguk running unhindered over a plain of his own lyrics, the group painting their own world, laughing and having fun together, waving flags with fans, the use of colored powder being thrown that evokes the Hindu Holi festival (which symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, forgiveness, and the beginning of spring)...it all shows the stark dichotomy representative of their exploitation against the freedom that they fought so hard for. Even the lack of choreography in the video shows the eschewing of expected conventions, abandoning the rigid and structured for doing things their own way (though there is a dance practice, which I recommend!). Basically, everything in the video and lyrics represents all that they survived. Right before the song came out, Yongguk had stated that the song wasn't at all written to be a hit, but rather was a gift to themselves and the fans that had stuck with them for that long, almost two years between comebacks, and it truly was a declaration of their drive and intent to continue forward under their own terms. It's just really beautiful. Unfortunately, the lawsuit with TS did end up as the first nail in the coffin of their careers as a group. They lost so much momentum which they never managed to win back, as the industry had experienced a pretty massive shift during the lawsuit with the sudden success of BTS. Too much of their fanbase had moved on, or failed to stick around when the group were denied the opportunity to follow up the success of "1004 (Angel)", and over the next two years they would see a slow decline in popularity that culminated in TS essentially abandoning them a full year before their contracts ended. However, the second those contracts were over, every single member declined to renew, and they parted ways, though they've all remained close friends. Well, with one exception. One of the most frustrating and upsetting things about B.A.P's history is how it has been tarnished by one member. B.A.P, while inspiring and changing the course of the entire third generation of boy groups, is not talked about very often anymore, primarily because one of the members, Himchan. Literally about three months before B.A.P's contracts expired, Himchan assaulted a woman at a party, a crime for which he has since been convicted, and he has also since been convicted of a DUI as well, and is on trial for another assault. The other five members all cut ties with him, with some even speaking out publically, and they now consider B.A.P to be five members (and even cut him out of photos), but the damage to the name of B.A.P had already been done. Ask nearly anyone in the industry or who has been a kpop fan for very long and they'll likely know of B.A.P and how important their work and legacy have been, but due to the stain Himchan left, they aren't often brought up anymore. Those five members of B.A.P, though, (Yongguk, Daehyun, Youngjae, Jongup, and Zelo) all have solo careers, and often times show up to each others' fanmeets, concerts, or events, as well as doing volunteer work and dinners together when they have time. At this moment, Youngjae is almost done with his mandatory military service, Zelo is in the early part of his, Yongguk and Daehyun have completed theirs, and Jongup has yet to enlist. Yongguk has his own company now, Daehyun and Jongup are under the same company as of this year, Zelo is independant, and Youngjae has been doing both music and acting. Jongup, the main dancer and member you pointed out at the end, has also gained a boost in popularity due to his participation in the reality show Peak Time, and he's making the best of that before he has to enlist (probably by the end of this year). They all have some *amazing* material, and if you'd like, I'd be happy to recommend some, both from their B.A.P days and all of their solo projects. The five of them are some of the most earnest and hard-working idols I've ever had the pleasure of supporting, and they deserve so much more than the relative obscurity they've been left to since B.A.P's disbandment. Again, thank you so much for reacting to B.A.P. It made my day to watch how positively and strongly they can still impact people, even now, 12 1/2 years after their debut. Their story of meteoric rise and how their own company exploited them, abused them, and destroyed their careers out of greed will forever be one of the sadder ones, but they deserve to be remembered, not just for indelible influence on the trajectory of kpop boy groups, but for how hard they fought for themselves and each other. I'm sorry for writing what is basically an essay, but I hope this helped you appreciate this MV a bit more, and that it has piqued your interest in B.A.P and their (5 good) members.

Oh, also, fun fact! Yongguk, whom B.A.P was built around, was originally an independent underground rapper, and another rapper under TS named Sleepy was the one who recognized his talent and introduced him to the CEO of TS Ent. Sleepy is, incidentally, also the man who discovered another underground rapper and introduced him to a friend who was the CEO of a different company. Said CEO proceeded to build a group around this young rapper, by the name of Kim Namjoon, resulting in the formation of a little group called BTS. So the kpop world owes a lot to Sleepy! I highly recommend Sleepy's song "Body Lotion" which also features Yongguk, if you're interested in reacting to something that isn't often reacted to!
