Yes - they all went through their own journey and difficulties as a group, but what happened to Tablo was so brutal and outrageous, it's impact on Tablo as an individual artist, the group as a whole and all their music that they made since then has been massively impacted by that event and the fall out from it. After years of hard work as independent artists, they were making huge headway, public recognition, lots of appearances on big name programs, their label under Woolim, they were becoming big stars in Korea and then it all disappeared overnight because some no name Korean living in America decided there was no way a rapper like Tablo could have these phenomenal acadamic credentials (a bachelor's and master's degree from Stanford in only 4 years). Suddenly there were hordes of jealous angry people on a witch hunt for Tablo (including his own cousin) and they destroyed his career and threatened his family. It was a wild and scary time.

Media and "fans" swing on a pendulum - you are either *The IDOL* or *trash* ... incredibly brutal, hurtful and soul destroying. No surprising that there is so much seen and hidden mental anx and anguish. Maybe I'm reaching here but Eastern idols appear to have it a ton harder than their Western counterparts. Across the board, it is heartwrenching and somehow this _pressure and expectations_ need to be de-escalated! Great discussion Roscoe

During that time, the crazy haters came to Tablo’s parent’s home and work places and call 24/7 to curse them. And his dad was fighting with cancer at that time and eventually passed away. So it was enormously traumatic era for Tablo. This is Epik High’s Korean fan for 19 years and I’m glad you did reaction to Epik High and sEODo band!

The part that Tablo said "you dont know anything about me shut up: is from an interview from buzzfeed bff test [ link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4rNmYZqorOdn6Msi=4bbotPV8cG2xft6U ] and the beginning of the song is a sample of a song of Tablo's from their album Epik High is Here part 1 song called Lesson Zero [so they are using a lot of their own samples into the songs like Easter eggs for fans(high skool) )

The early 90s comparison is on point. Every time I listen to Epik High, I end up going to listen to A Tribe Called Quest after. Tablo's flow reminds me so much of Q-Tip.

Yeah as he alluded to with Yoongi he went through it (all three of them really) and backed away for awhile. I have been aware of these guys for awhile because of BTS and their admiration of them. And yes they always come with the fire and truth.

If you really want to know about Tablo's life, he's written 2-3 books that are all available in English. His wife is also amazing for standing by him when everyone was against him. I think "Map the Soul" is about her, but I could be wrong. There's an English version of the song/MV you should react to if you haven't.
