Taemin co-wrote this song while on a plane. He fit the shooting of this MV into his trip to Paris with SuperM promotions. It was a one-day shoot. The "choreo" was him mostly free-styling, because at the time there wasn't an actual choreo. After all, Taemin is a self-admitted workahoIic and will fit in what he can where he can. I truly believe that Taemin can dance the way he does, blending in different styles, because he was not professionally trained as a youngster. He actually taught himself to dance by replicating his favorite idols' moves in front of his mirror. He was already a street dancer before getting into SM, and he was only 12 when he auditioned! Therefore, Taemin was never locked into one specific discipline like many other idols. It's easy for him to take the best bits of a discipline and seamlessly incorporate them into his own unique style. He is incomparable and unique among all Kpop artists.

And for all the people that didn't see the point of Super M, go argue to the fans that saw the group on tour, when the artists did their solo stages. Selling my kidney comes to mind, but to those who just paid regular money to see the performances, OMG, priceless!!

"2 Kids" is the first part of Taemin's 3rd Korean solo album called Never Gonna Dance Again. It is part of a trilogy, which started with his prologue "2 Kids," and continued with "Criminal," which is part of Act 1 of the album. "Idea" is part of Act 2 of the album and it brings the whole concept full circle. And now "Advice" has become the epilogue to the story. As mentioned before, Taemin said in an interview: "The two acts put together tell a story. ‘2 Kids’ is about growing pains and depicts the story prior to the story in the album. You can think of '2 Kids' as a teaser before the movie called 'Never Gonna Dance Again.' Act 1 shows a new side of me. I think it’ll be something you’ve never seen in K-pop before. And Act 2 is the end-all-be-all. It’s the ultimate level of intensity. Never Gonna Dance Again’ was originally the name of the concept. Because it doesn’t make sense for me to stop dancing. But I wanted to give a sense of rebellion with the irony of the title.” "2 Kids" is about reflecting on a past dating relationship and realizing that in hindsight, now that you are older and have a little distance from the situation, you realize you handled things all wrong. Being young, dumb and naive you let small things ruin what could have been something great. And now that he is older and has more life experience, he wishes that they had never broken up and that he had handled things differently. The song isn't about any one person in particular, it's about life and young love in general. The song sounds happy even though it's a sad song because it's a metaphor for how you may look happy and fine on the outside, but inside you are in pain and suffering, beating yourself up with regrets, etc. (He is beating himself up as part a the metaphor in the song, no one beat him up except himself.) The happy tune is masking the true sadness of the song's message. If you pay attention to the lyrics, "2 Kids" is all about how Taemin is in pain, saying, we were too young and dumb and we let things get in the way ... I should have just stuck it out a little longer. (In other words, why did I act so rashly and breakup with you over things that I now see, in hindsight, were so trivial?, etc.) Leave me alone, I deserve to be in pain and live with the guilt and regret that I feel, etc. He looks injured and beat up because he is metaphorically beating himself up emotionally and he is physically beating himself up because he is heartbroken and he is just blindly going through life since the breakup. If you notice, even the choreography is showing him being beat up by an invisible force. He is rolling around on the ground and can barely stand up at times because he is in so much emotional turmoil, etc. Which is all kind of funny because the whole reason why the comeback for "2 Kids", which was supposed to happen in July 2020, was postponed for a month until August was because he injured his wrist while dancing. So he really did beat himself up for this MV. :D And although they did create choreography for "2 Kids," Taemin said most of the dance in the MV ended up being freestyle. If you watch the behind the scenes video for "2 Kids", you will see this was all filmed in one day in Paris in February 2020, right before the pandemic shut everything down. The shot where he is suspended in the air, was him in the middle of the street being hoisted up on wires. And the part where he is dancing in the middle of the town square, the people you see in the background walking around him were people just taking their kids to school and going to work that morning. In "2 Kids" he was emotionally and physically beating himself up with regrets and in "Criminal," he was living in a toxic relationship and being brainwashed to the point he was suffering from stockholm syndrome; he fell in love with the person (or thing -- i.e. his career) who is essentially inflicting all the pain and suffering on him. So in other words, even though you are being abused by that person (possibly a metaphor for the pressure he is creating for himself) he still can't help but love them and allow them to continue to hurt you, etc. :D "Idea" takes the theme one step further, and says that even though it was my idea and my plan to live this life, nothing comes without a price, and because of that need for perfection, any chance of being average or living a regular life is pretty much dead. Taemin has sacrificed everything to become the magnificent and unique performer and person that we know him as today.

I hope you’ll react to Taemin’s Just Me And You - it’s such a feast to watch him dance in this MV (well it’s not really an MV, just a VCR to his concert)… I love how Taemin always tries something new, he’s a phenomenal dancer.

4:25 in fact, they hung Taemin from a wire. And they filmed people through plexiglass; they built a special stage with a transparent floor. And then they combined these scenes. There are also scenes in the video with Taemin on that floor(2:34). Thanks for reaction.

Честно говоря, для меня Тэмин единственный сольный артист в кпоп, кого мне нравится слушать. Настолько яркий, что я люблю его творчество больше, чем группы. Shinee тоже люблю. Но личность Тэмина как артиста впечатляет и его хочется узнавать все больше и больше. То как он работает и собирает по крупицам альбом, уделяя большре внимание всем аспектам и анализируя его работы понимаешь, что он будто книгу пишет. Рассказывает нам историю с продолжением в следующем альбоме. И каждый раз мы ждём в предвкушении чего-то удивительного. Тэмин никогда не повторяется в своём творчестве. Как человек он очень глубокий, вдумчивый, серьёзный человек. Но в нём есть и другая сторона, он безумно милый,☺️ игривый и добрый. Тэмин прекрасная душа. 💓Я рада, что вы с нами постепенно узнаете его.

I love this guy too. There’s just no limit to his talent. He’s so sincere and so captivating in every style he tries and he delivers every single time - always something fresh, interesting and totally engaging. So glad you enjoyed 2 Kids, I was hoping you would, but one never knows. Taemin dances to how he is feeling and what he wants to express, here in free style or choreographed numbers, and that's why one will see slight variations in his dancing within a choreographed number from performance to performance. He has two collabs he did on "The Call" in 2018. A SK music show where artists from different genres team up and collab. Here they come up with a concept, song, and performance to compete against other teams. Taemin an idol picked BeWhy a rapper which surprised a lot of people as idols and rappers from the hip hop world never mix (so I read).There is their performance video The Call Taemin and BeWhy Pinocchio (Eng Subs) 180622 EP7 and also a behind the scenes video, which I recommend to. Also, BeWhy doesn't dance and was concerned about standing up there with the dancing king, so Taemin showed him a few moves, Taemin also liked his tone and convinced BeWhy to sing another thing he hadn't done before. The other collab was Taemin and UV (two comedians) The Call Taemin and UV (Eng Subs) 180629 EP8. One never knows what's going to happen when you perform with comedians. Enjoy.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. I loved this song on 1st listen. I cried too. So much feels. Adore songs with feels. Taemin looked great. new Taemin bias here. Loved the colors in the MV. As some already said below this was mostly freestyle. I believe Taemin changes the choreo on every live stage. Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💟 frankiee said 6/22 👫 '2 KIDS' was produced by ARCADES who often work with BTS and TXT, and then Taemin co-wrote the lyrics after receiving inspiration in the clouds during his plane flights. The MV was filmed in Paris on an off-day during SuperM's 2019 world tour stop there (yes, he was working double time) and Taemin also freestyled/self-choreographed the performance on that same day as well. 😢 Like you said; Taemin-in contrast to most others-doesn't just dance, but he PERFORMS. He LIVES through the art and it's often as though he's performing For Himself rather than just for an audience. This is one of the reasons why he's been widely considered as K-Pop's #1 all-time best dancer for well over a decade now by fans, idols, professional dancers/choreographers, and the industry itself.
