What an underrated and humble genius this man is. A true artist.

So underrated. One of the most important directors of the last thirty years that really has been pushing the possibilities of what cinema can be and how it can be done.

"The artist who is not practicing their art is kind of like a toxic person." Amen. You don't work your art, you get messed up. One way or the other, it's GOT to come out if you have any hope of being soul healthy. Linklater continues: "I'm a big believer in the therapeutic value of art. It's kind of a coping mechanism for the person doing it. "

I think the great thing about Richard Linklater is that even if his movie pans, which happens like 40% of the time for him, they're all still his vision. Say what you will about the movies he's made and how you feel, the fact of the matter is that he's still doing absolutely what he wants and I think that's what matters. Sure you can have someone like Tarantino who's all movies seem to do okay, I think being a Kubrick or being a Linklater where you can fail and then pick up the pieces, that's what matters. Boyhood and the before trilogy are astounding imo.

The therapeutic aspect to art really resonated. It definitely helps me as well from becoming a menace to society. lol.

So Mathew didn't even wanted to be an actor and was approached by the casting director on his vibe alone... that doesn't surprise me. That man oozes the most natural coolness I've ever seen! I love someone unaware of their natural talent. They make some of the best and most natural actors on set, and are usually super-humble. You see this guy you immediately wanna hang out with him!

Linklater's coming of age films should have 1979 by smashing pumpkins... It's so wierd but I get the same nostalgic feeling.... Every time...

Cee esS Moto it was just impressive for me that a director which his movies are most boring and annoying things I’ve ever witnessed , talks about telling an interesting story😂 It’s like a bad chef talks about making a delicious food Of course it’s just personal opinion. You may enjoy his movies i dunno
@alariaaurora84564 жыл бұрын
sphamandla mashalaba nah i love slow burn movies from great directors like bela tarr , ingmar bergman and ... movies like : satantango (7.30 hours movie) , turin’s horse , fanny and alexander (5.30 hours in director’s cut ver) How ever i despise his movies. Nothing interesting happens in them for me Dare i say this guy and Terrence malick are most overrated and pretentious directors ever in my mind
