In my latest workshop project, watch me make a brass hammer from an old brass coatrack that I found in the trash! Cast the stock that didn't come out perfect, but I am happy with the result of this brass hammer project… i’ll make more hammers like this to prefect the technique with a future hammer build.

One of the things I enjoy most about your work is that you are never a slave to either old tech nor new tech. We see a precision milling machine and an old draw knife used on the same project. I love that!

Hopefully one day I can meet you and Shake Your Hand. And tell you, thank you for everything you do. Please keep up the great work. I enjoy watching every video.

And there I was thinking "There's no way that trashy coat stand is solid brass." You can tell how pleased Jimmy is will the result by how much time he spends playing when he's done. A thing from trash. Inspirational. Now reforge the shavings and make Ice picks. A thing from the trash of trash. Imagine if this was how the world worked. Thanks J.

Something I really enjoy about your videos is I can always get a sense of the object that you have created. The weight of the thing or the balance, or the feel of it in your hand. I really appreciated the end of this one. The first video I saw of yours years back you cut some steel back in your old NY shop. After you cut it you tapped it on some other steel and it rang. I was very happy to hear that and see that you have still carried on doing things like that. Makes the object real. Thanks man. Great vid.

Dumb question, but in order to make your stock square in the least amount of time the steps are cut 1 side, flip 180 cut the other side so they are // then do the other 2 sides? If you cut 1 side then flip 90 and cut you may not get square sides? I figure you cut one side then flip 180 and make sure that your piece is flat against your parallels in your vice then cutting the top means that top and bottom are // after the cut. then for the other 2 cuts don't require //'s because the vice is trammed in. I could be wrong and you could get a pretty square piece with 90 degree flip if your milled side is against the non moving jaw, but I ain't sure
