I am making a sign for a Low Line fundraiser. www.thelowline.org The sign will be inside during the evening event. I use my Porter Cable Jig Saw I bought brand new 23 years ago. I find this to be the best jig saw, still. I chose to use a veneer blade because the teeth point down which allow me to avoid tear out on the up stroke.
Please subscribe, like, comment, and enjoy. Thank you!

Proof that is the user, not the tool that makes the job. Many think of a jigsaw as a poor man's tool used for rough work, not so in this case! Great job.

Some of us watch DiResta to see how he makes stuff: the right tools and the right materials which your Average Joe probably already has. Some of us watch DiResta to learn how he shoots great video: excellent viewing angles for learning the project combined with smart changes in framerates for brevity and the big picture]. I am here for BOTH. I sincerely hope you [Jimmy] make a comfortable living with these skill sets, because if not, there's no chance for the rest of us!

Jimmy, Iv'e watched a couple of the videos where you use the chop saw technique, I will admit that this old man was awe struck & intimidated by the process. But once I got over my apprehension & just did it, I was extremely pleased with the results. It is not as difficult as I was making it out to be. Thank You, I learn something new with every video you put out. Marty

I saw you with a flashlight in your mouth to help light up some spots. I've learned so much from you so here's a handy little tip. Get one of those headlamps that runners use. Something like Coast, or Black Diamond, or whatever. Depending on what you get, they can be VERY bright, can have adjustable beams, and last for many hours. They are also designed to be worn comfortably for long periods too (as runners are apt to do). I use them for everything.

God damn it, that jig saw makes nice cuts. The one I have keeps bending the blades back and forth, and the screw that holds the pad straight loosens, so I usually get crooked results. Luckily I accidentally put a garage door on it the other day (while trying to (and succeeded in) installing said door), so I guess it's time to get a new one. I got three preferred brands, Makita, Bosch pro (the blue ones) and DeWalt.

I love this. There are a ton of "fine woodworking" channels but this is so much like my years in theatre... You get a great result but probably have the fine woodworkers losing their lunch in the corner. Don't get me wrong I have deep respect for what they do but there is also the the trades where looking good for a limited time and on a fixed budget trump traditional techniques. Not a lot of people show that side.

Why so many Debbie Downers? I think it was a good video. I like your choice of camera angles and some mix of showing real speed vs sped up. As a beginning woodworker, it is nice to see how long it takes a professional to do the cuts that they are doing so I have a good idea on how fast I can do mine without getting a bad cut. I think the impatient people are not people who make things, they are more the people who enjoy your videos. For what it is worth, I enjoyed Jimmy!

i make things all week long for a living, every project is a potential video. of course i can not tape every thing, and every thing is not exciting to tape. the things i do tape are typically situations when i can do some demos that may be fresh.. this jig sawing was what i wanted to show. the people with intelligence and imagination will get it. Others that diminish , minute by minute are simply small minded people with no ideas and must troll like termites for the slightest mental stimulation else where. If you build a house there will always be termites. Thank you for your support.

Describing this video as "long and boring" is probably a bit blunt. I think what they are getting at is that with this project you could see exactly where it was going from the start, therefore it became unexciting to watch. I find that the 'x-factor' in most of Jimmy's videos is that they often keep you wondering how things fit together until the very end of the video.
