This is the my first time making Paddles! I use Spalted Maple with accents of walnut and Wenge at the outside to create a strong leading edge. i made fast work of the carving using the bandsaw and the power planer.

I spent the first couple of minutes wondering why the paddle was looking so different to the photographs - turns out it was the template :D Great job Jimmy, a pleasure to watch, as always.

Well thanks, one more reason we'd like to have a bandsaw, that made quick work of carving the blank. We currently use a table saw and jigsaw. And congrats on joining the world of spokeshaves, what a fun tool, we use a vintage Stanley #51. Thanks for sharing the video! Clark and Skipper

The restored bandsaw looked like it worked great for this project! Also, it was cool how you incorporated a variety of tools to shape the paddles, whether that be the bandsaw, power planer, spokeshave, angle grinder, or hand plane. They all had their purpose and strengths to get the project completed 👍👍 Awesome and inspiring build!

Wow, making oars actually looks like a huge project. All the "organic" lines. Maybe even more complex (time consuming) than a table or cabinet. It's like making 10 really nice axe handles by hand. Impressive.
