Dirk is absolutely everything you wish from a professional athlete. Legend and very rare. Almost no ego, total team player.

Dirk is THE NICEST guy ever. If anyone remembers that horrible prank TV show that Ashton Kutcher produced, "Punk'd," there was an episode where they went after Dirk. He was eating dinner with Michael Finley and one other player at a restaurant, and they had a kid just harass him over and over again to sign things. He brought like 20 items the first time, and Dirk sat there and signed each and every one. They had the kid coming back over and over again with a sh** ton of items each time, and surely enough, Dirk just patiently signed each item. Never blew up or big-timed the kid. I also remember when he won the Finals against Miami as an underdog. He was phenomenal and won the MVP, but he tempered his celebrations and just wanted to go back into the locker room to enjoy it privately. He had to come out to make an obligatory MVP speech, but got down after it and just jogged back into the locker room. No flashing "run it back!" fingers or dancing on the court. Just a quiet, humble dude.

I remember that segment. I think it was '04 or '05. At one point that kid brought a Lebron jersey to sign. I think Dirk said something like you want me to sign a Lebron jersey

Dirk Diggler!!! Thank you for bringing Dallas a championship!!! I’ll never forget being a kid in the 90s when the Mavs were a laughing stock. To all the great playoff runs in the 2000s. Ironically I had my son the year the Mavs won a championship. It all comes around. Thank u Dirk

Dirk is another legend like Barry Sanders that is so humble he appears to want to deflect his greatness by giving coaches, family, or the timing they were in the game, as reasons why they were so great.

Players who Dirk Nowitzki has beaten in a playoff series: LeBron James Kobe Bryant Dwayne Wade Kevin Garnet Tim Duncan Kevin Durant James Harden Russell Westbrook Karl Malone John Stockton Steve Nash Tracy Mcgrady That’s pretty staggering 🥴
@AsukasSlave2 жыл бұрын
Well, basketball is a team sport, and teams beat other teams. I'm pretty sure Dirk himself would admit he was never really the best player in the league. He did get an MVP, though, so props to him.
@Riles31522 жыл бұрын
@@AsukasSlave All true, and I’m not saying that he was greater than everyone on that list, but I think it’s really impressive that the best player and his maverick teams were able to win entire playoff series against the best players mentioned and their respective teams. Where I think I’m getting at here is that there is a strong case to be made that Dirk Nowitzki may very well be UNDER-rated historically.

Dirk absolutely right about going to Don Nelson. His teams were always unique. If he went anywhere else he wouldn’t be who he was. Everyone knows Dirk as a post fadeaway or three guy. He was a triple threat and face up beast too.
