I can't compare the video, as it's most likely a smartphone, but the sound quality, the tone of your voice, simple instructions and the cadence makes me think I'm watching old Sunday PBS or TLC in the early 90's...outstanding!!!!

I soldered a shattered circuit board for a computerised crane at work and left the boss an email that it was only a temporary fix. That temporary repair lasted for four bosses and twelve years before it failed again and I emailed the current boss that twelve years ago I told them that repair was temporary. I then pointed out the date I wrote on the Frankenstein looking circuit board when I fixed it, in an email. There was a new board for replacement in two days installed by the day crew. Temporary can, indeed, last a very, very, long time, sometimes forever.

Electric fans are so much better. I run a dual fan set up (small fans) and they do the job perfectly
@dironaa
@dironaa 5 жыл бұрын
I'm slowly learning LOL. I'd be much more comfortable running a dual fan setup. The single fan I installed leaves a single point of failure to be stranded on the side of the road, where with a dual fan setup even if one fan goes down you should still be able to limp home on the remaining fan. Relays, temp switches, and fuses can all be bypassed if needed but if the fan motor goes down we're dead in the water, which whether justified or not is a big concern for me when getting rid of a perfectly good mechanical fan.

Remove the breather inlet tube from the air filter housing. You will not believe how much more power you will get. However, things will sound a bit different when you are accelerating.
@dironaa

I'll have to give that a try!

@@dironaa Save the mini inlet tube for the very rainy seasons. But as soon as the flooding resides and the rainy season is over, take it off. You will, of course, need to change the air filter a bit more often. Afterall, you are getting a lot more air.

@Dawn R The Southern Battle Flag just makes the Jeep jump ramps much further and higher and land completely undamaged, maybe even better in better condition than when it lauched off the ramp. It also makes you a hood slide expert. However, on flat ground the Jeep will still run the same. Hey, is that a railroad embankment ahead with no other cars between your Jeep and the railroad?

Hi, what application is this fan from? Are you sure it's from an '03 wrangler? They all seem to be mechanical.
@dironaa
@dironaa 4 жыл бұрын
Only the 4 cylinder wranglers were electric in 03, 04, and 05. there weren’t a whole lot of 4 cylinders sold so finding one of these fans can be tough.

I found that removing the clutch fan can and does free up 5-15 hp. And that's significant for a 4 cyl.

The same electric fan (2003-2005 Wrangler with 2.4 4 cylinder engine) should bolt right onto any TJ radiator. They can be hard to come by though so many people use a Ford Taurus fan instead.

Yes, definitely change the clutch style, belt driven fan out of your wranglers to an electric fan. The benefits are wonderful. But do not part with the old belt driven fan. The belt driven fan is near indestructible. The electric fans may fail. Your belt driven fan will be on standby for back up cooling duty and will install in minutes. Never throw away your belt driven fan when you replace it with an electric fan.
@dironaa
@dironaa 4 жыл бұрын
Exactly. The old fan is tucked away for safe keeping in the event that the electric fan fails.

My green wire that doesn't really go to anything was the whole reason I watched the video it's actually for your AC fan to keep your compressor from burning up when you setting still running for your 134A coolant to not overheat and burn up your compressor I was wanting to see how you tied that in to your AC being turned on.

LOL. Unfortunately I’m not on a highly funded tv show. I think the show Engine Masters on the Motortrend channel did a dyno test to find out how much power a mechanical fan sucks from the engine and I want to say it was around 10%

I changed so many things on the Jeep that I honestly don't know. What I can tell you is I'm consistently getting 17-17.5 mpg around town with 33s, 4.10 gears, electric fan, stock suspension, and the 2.5L 4-cyl. Bone stock it was getting around 18 or so before I did anything to it.

You see very little differnce in fuel economy. However, you will see a tremendous difference in power during take off and low speed. Cooling at low speed is also very much improved.
