Its hard to sell a Jeep with no seats. But its not really hard to put seats in a Jeep, as long as you find the right ones.
The Jeep isn't done yet, but if you think this is the perfect Jeep for you email me at

The junkyard YJ was my favorite episode of DED. Something about getting vehicles running cheaply appeals to me lol.

Gotta 1993 yj that I’m fixing up myself right now, and it’s going well! So cool to see you working on a jeep to give to my generation, hope whoever got it had so much fun with it! Love yjs!

My old college roommate had one of these back in '91, the doors and windows were in the dorm, but out of the way. Funny you said someone can take this cross country, well he did that in his '89 YJ, drove it from Colorado to California to Vermont and Massachusetts. While most will find it to be not the ideal vehicle for it, however, if you're a Jeeper, it can be a lot of fun!

Years ago I put corbeau moab seats in my 92 yj. Used original brackets and yes sits high. Corbeau sells brackets but I didnt want to spend any more money. I had a 13 inch grant steering wheel lying around in the garage. Gave me about 2 inches of vertical leg room. Just an idea for anyone looking to swap seats using the original brackets.

I have a YJ and Ive had to change the risers because they were broken, Mine actually has the fold and tumble brackets on both sides. Thanks for sharing I think this would be a great little starter project for some body. Mine was pretty rough and I have slowly worked out most of the kinks. Thanks for sharing

I can relate to this as I currently have 2 extra pairs of front seats and a fold and tumble rear for my 78 CJ. In addition to extra seats for a 4th gen Camaro, that's a lot of extra seats sitting around. When I first got my CJ5 it was an unfinished project, and one of the many problems it had was the seat to steering wheel thing. This video reminded of that, had to laugh at you getting in under the steering wheel. Combination of cool small steering wheel (power steering equipped) and angling the column up some made it work.

I bought a white YJ around the same time you were doing the Working from Home series. I fixed it up for my daughter to drive as she was getting her license. In the end, we decided to get her something with air bags for safety. But, I've really regretted selling that Jeep. I love my built JK, but there was something about tooling around in that YJ that I really miss. Although, I bought for $2500 and sold it for $6750...made a nice little profit. 👍

Very cool!! I had a 91 YJ and the driver seat made that one look like a Cadillac seat! I found a pair of used PT Cruiser seats and used them. I got a driver side folding bracket for a CJ7 from Sgt Jeep (I’ve gotten a lot of parts from them because of the Junkyard YJ episode! Great folks to work with!!). I had to drill a couple holes to make the sliders, seats and brackets all fit together. My seats were way too high too!! A little massaging with the angle grinder to open up the folding bracket’s stop notches so it sat lower and all was good!!

Fred I absolutely love that jeep for sure!! My family has had a couple different Jeep’s over the years!! A CJ 7,CJ 8, and a CJ 5 even!!! My favorite one was the CJ 7!! But here In Iowa it really rusted out big time and one kept going threw turbo 350 trannys!! We had probably 6 different trannys in it and everyone would go out Wright after the warranty was up!! And of course we didn’t keep having the same tranny shop rebuilding them we had at least four of the top tranny shops in Iowa rebuild and go threw the system and still wouldn’t work!! I’m definitely not a turbo 350 tranny guy and it’s not just because of the issues with the Jeep’s tranny!! I just have better luck with the turbo 400 trannys plus those trannys came in bigger vehicles and beefier vehicles!! I’d definitely be interested in that jeep that you are working on there plus I absolutely love white jeeps and blue Jeep’s like Hoolleys blue jeep!! I just love blue and white for vehicles colors!!! What would you like to sell it for so I no if I can afford it or not?? Please let me know buddy!!! Awesome video and remember keep up all the hard work buddy!!!!

Its not that those tan seats were made for a CJ. Stock YJ and later CJ seats are the same size and interchange, as do the tubs. Its that they are aftermarket and almost all the aftermarket seats made for these CJs and YJs are too tall/thick in the bottom sections. Many of us have run into this problem as well

Respectfully and Constructively. Fred you are one of my favorite personalities. I have officially ended my motor trend subscription. There is nothing left there to watch. But... I'm having a hard time with this channel. It has been very basic. If I'm going to live vicariously through someone, installing seats or a winch or putting together a new minibike isn't holding my interest. Fred for beginners is not my cup of tea.
