I’m at a point in my life where I can pretty much afford any motorcycle I want. I have the FE501. It is about as close to perfect as a bike can be. We’re living in a great time for dual-sport bikes. Years ago we could only dream of such an off-road capable street-legal motorcycle. If you’re into this kind of thing, get yourself an FE501.

Please, enlighten me. I currently have an XR400R Gen 2 that has been VERY heavily modified. I'm looking to move in to a new bike, but not many have the low end of an XR. In your experience, UNBIAS, how does your STOCK 501 do at 3000rpm or LESS?

@@BuzzinVideography i just bought a 2022 te300i and i was never really sure if a two stroke could have the grunt that my xr had but holy cow. Thing blows it out of the water…. Its so light and nimble and has plenty of torque to get you up the hill or out of what ever your in. I would look into that over the 501 personally.

@@BuzzinVideography I just got a 2022 fe501s and it is a tractor down low. I haven’t rode an xr400 but my last bike was a 2021 yz450fx and the 501 stock is just as rude as that bike was. Minus the suspension anyway

Have an FE501 and an FX350. Love them both and they are by far the best bikes I've owned over the last 45 years. The only thing I had issue with on the 501 was the rear tailight/license plate assembly. Hard riding will suck that thing right up into the wheel just like you mentioned. I ditched that for the Sicass unit right away. Then had issue with the turn signals on the Sicass unit vibrating to pieces. Still looking for the best solution for that, but for now, have removed all of it when I go ride off-road.

I love this bike, but just noticed at 0:59 where the ignition is located. A rock could hit it and break the key, leaving the other half inside the ignition. It would suck having to fix that. They should have tucked it in somewhere in the front.

Please, you have to do a tuner, remove reed, and change exhaust end cap. It is unfair to compare it like this to a beta that comes like that from the factory. Same goes for the ktm. I have a 2020 ktm 500 with those mods and it is not even close to a stock bike. Watch best dual sport bikes videos. How is a 17 hp gain comparable to stock?

@justinkase13604 жыл бұрын
I think it's 100% a legitimate comparison. This is a product tested as delivered, which is all you can really expect. Not everyone will modify their bikes. It's my understanding that these bikes can get to high 50s at the wheel after exhaust, intake, fuelling. EDIT: Oh, it's that scam guy. His numbers are BS.

My KTM EXCR450 would always overheat in the tight technical single track. Does anyone know if this bike is any beter as far as going slow and keeping the temperatures down?
@stevenhicks65044 жыл бұрын
Is It an 08 carb? or a 12 or newer efi? either way, All of these street legal models made since 08 have been a little lean and thus ran hot. Adding a slip on muffler only makes things worse. if you have a carb i'd recommend looking into a jd jetting kit. If it EFI id look at a jd tuner. it made a very big difference to my 18 500, way less flame outs, better throttle response, more linear use-able power and most importantly; IT RUNS COOL NOW!
@Chris-po1xh4 жыл бұрын
@@stevenhicks6504 It was an 2008 I bought brand new and and kept it all stock except I put the JD kit in the carburetor it ran a little better after that then I added a fan kit, in the slow technical trails it would almost run constantly and drain my battery.
@Chris-po1xh4 жыл бұрын
@@stevenhicks6504 I just dont want to spend ten or eleven thousand on a new bike and have to dump more money in to it to get it to run right. When your spending that kind of money I think the factory should get it right.

It would run fine if I kept it in the faster flowing trails and kept the temperature down it just didn't like the slow stuff

subframe cracking , old school linkage suspension, and highway vibrations doomed this bike.... But at the time, 4 years ago, it was sweet. Short lived... The newer generation has an improved subframe but the excess power in a too light for road usage package still has highway vibration issues and tank slap at passing speeds.
