Love the content you guys put out. Best videos about atvs out there. One thing i think you guys might want to mention in future videos is fuel consumption. I can look up capacity and all that stuff. But maybe your thoughts on how hard they burn it up and maybe distance you could cover on a tank. Keep up the good work.

We actually did that and I forgot to throw it in.. We were on very steep technical trails in low gear and the Grizzly still had the zillas on it.. After 60 miles the KQ took 2.8 gallons and the Grizzly took 3.. The Grizzly tank is bigger by .16 gallons but in that scenario they would have run out of fuel around the same time which would have been around 90 miles... Again low gear, tuff trails, lots or crawling.. In high gear on easier trails I'd expect that be 120-140 miles and the Grizzly will do better with the smaller tires.. Thanks for asking that question!!!

When I was shopping for an atv I looked at both of these machines. That's really what it came down to was nit pick personal preference even. Lol. I found a KQ 750 that had a little pain damage so I got it for the 500 price I had put a deposit on, so that really helped my decision. One thing I am happy about is my rear fenders. I notice my friends with a Yamaha or can am get a lot more mud on their back than I do. I noticed the fender difference looking at them. To keep the truck clean the mud not going all over helps. I know I would have been happy with a grizz, and I'm happy with my KQ. No issues at 2500 miles and it's a 2019. I don't beat it up and jump occasionally.

Best atv channel on KZbin!..I appreciate the honesty and completeness of every debatable difference between these 2. I'm leaning towards the grizzly. I've owned 2 of them with no issues other than the annoying decel pop when off the throttle. Its the little things that matter to me at 58 yrs old, like easy power steering, softer suspension , seat comfort, convenient "heated" storage between your knees, aesthetics, durability, bright Led lights, flatter floor boards for foot comfort, smooth clutch engagement, easy standing comfort , higher quality gauges, etc Keep up the great work....I cant believe you even discussed the muffler and sound differences. Its powerful, and super fun to ride, but is very tame on trails etc. I will never buy anything else. FYI, I have a 2016 Sportsman, and a 2018 Sportsman. First 1. Y’all NAILED this video production! Excellent lay out . You and Brian nailed all the important points that I had . At the end of my last ride in the mountains I stated and fully agree my KQ just felt a touch tippy. I’ve done my research and have settled on some Moose 387X 4+3 rims on 26” ITP Terracross tires . Stock is 5+2 and I didn’t want to go 2+5 and ruin the EXCELLENT mud and splash protection of the KQ. So I chose the middle ground at 4+3 which will add stability and meet in the middle of not to much offset to sling junk all over us . This was a fantastic Review that covered everything . Brian nailed the shootout with one statement . “Is the Grizzly $2000 more well rounded better ?” . After owning both it’s a resounding NO. It’s built better , slightly faster , slightly more torquey, handles slightly worse and rides slightly worse but costs significantly less and the cost difference far outweighs the negligible loss areas of the KQ. I’ve got to get up there and rip those trails for a ride ! I was wanting to ride so bad watching this lol.

I thought the $2k diff is mostly due to it being an XTR with winch and mag wheels/tires with fancy paint vs the more base level but EPS KQ. I think the Grizz is still more comparing EPS only to EPS only (no mags) as in Canada it's only $400 more for Grizzly so that's like $300 USD. So it's pretty even.
@Rakkasan-vr8xt
@Rakkasan-vr8xt Жыл бұрын
I had a 2019 KQ 750EPS, I put 2200 miles on it in a relatively short amount of time. I bought it because I also have a 2005 Eiger 400 that is still running like a champ. The KQ is comfortable, more than enough power, easy to modify (tires/storage/winch/led bulbs) and I bought the factory service reset tool so when I changed all the oils, I could reset it to my determined hours limit. I did change the flywheel weights, clutch spring also but it only added low end power and cost me about 10mph on the top. Fuel consumption was never an issue, I always carried a 2gal can in my cargo box. I added front and rear bumpers also. Never broke down, never failed to start, never had anything fall off…. I sold my toys to leave the state I’m in (ca), to return back to the Midwest where I’m from, I’ll be buying another KQ750 when my feet hit the ground. Best quad I’ve ever owned.

I like the king quad a little better. Also I like the rear wet brakes over the disk. It is less maintenance and better when in the mud. But for the lights the non led head light in the handle bar pod is there for a reason. It cuts better through the dust and fog then leds do. That’s what I was told by a Yamaha dealer.

Been looking forward to this one fellas and it did not disappoint! I was always curious about the clutching of the base model griz vs the SE/XTR and hearing they are the same is just reassurance that ditching the 27” zillas was the right move. I bet you guys loved the added power dropping down to those tusks and not pushing like a dump truck in the corners lol! If anyone is looking to drop down to 12” rims the part number for the rock shields inside the rim is BB5-F514A-00-00, (same exact shield for all 4 corners) you’ll need the smaller o.d. shields to fit the 12” rim over it. I feel like Suzuki has done a pretty good job of managing their annual price increases since all the covid bs started… Yamaha hasn’t with increases of close to $1k each year it feels like and no actual changes. Happy trails boys and stay safe!!

@moaber
@moaber Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I agree about the price increases. I have 8500 miles on a 2006 KINGQUAD 700 ridden in the rocky deserts of Nevada. So far, only needing rear bushing and the upper engine mount replaced. Absolutely bulletproof! I wanted to buy a new grizzly just for something different. After an exhaustive search, I could hardly even find a grizzly. And the few I did find we're priced outrageously. Like the author said, it would be another 2000 plus dollars with fees. Trying to get rid of those Zillas would be hard out west, and I much prefer the 12" wheels. So even more wasted money with the grizzly. I just gave up and went back to the ol' reliable KINGQUAD. I bought a 2022 yesterday at an MSRP price out the door. Taxes, registration, destination, set up, title, etc everything included on new SE+. Hopefully within a few more years, Yamaha and Suzuki will up the suspension travel on both units. Thoss will be a perfect machines!

Great video guys. Probably the most difficult two machines on the market to make a comparison with. Can't go wrong with either of them. That was me that mentioned about the foot pegs on the King Quad feeling like standing on a ladder rung, but that was very minor. Not a deal breaker. Couple of other things I prefer the Grizzly to more than the King Quad. 1st is the electric harnesses under the seat. King Quad is like a Brute Force and after a muddy day on the trails all those electrics are covered and sitting in mud and moisture. Eventually, unless you get it thoroughly clean and dry after every ride, some corrosion is going to happen. That is what happened on both my Brutes around the 3000 - 3500 kms mark. Nothing under the seat on a Grizzly except the fuel tank and lines. All the electrics are much better protected up front beneath the cowling. Even after a wet muddy ride all the wiring is basically dry and clean. Finally, and this is another minor point, is the fuel range. Grizzly has a few more liters and therefore a greater range than a King Quad, so that is something to consider. I have never owned a King Quad but would buy one in a heartbeat if I couldn't get my hands on a Grizzly. Keep up the great video's guys.
@DirtObseXXion
@DirtObseXXion Жыл бұрын
Thanks brother!! We appreciated the footpeg comment because it's important for us to share other opinions and not just ours.. Im sure there's a lot of guys who will agree with your perspective on that.. I should have mentioned fuel mileage because we actually did compare it and I forgot to mention it... Our mileage and range was almost identical.. The KingQuad got slightly better mileage on it, probably because the Grizzly still had the zillas when we did it.. We rode mostly in low gear so the mileage was pretty bad, but after 60 miles the Grizzly took 3 Gallons and the KQ took 2.8.. We were on very hilly and challenging trails.. I'd expect that to be much better in high gear on easier trails.. But still they're gonna be pretty close, but you do get a little bigger tank on the Grizzly 4.6 vs 4.76 gallons or something like that..

I have had both machines since 2005 and now have them as 20 and 21 model years, both are great machines that will never ever fail you but the king is just so much more refined where they Yamaha is so raw, the power and handling differences aren’t really significant enough to call one superior. But for me the buttery smoothness and quietness of the king, it’s electric spread of power and higher ground clearance make it my pick. But again, both are bombproof lifetime machines, you can’t make a wrong choice between them.

King Quad is the best deal out there especially at MLS Powersports. It's the only single with DOHC 4 valves per cylinder and I think the exhaust note sounds better too because of this. Not your normal single thumper sound thanks to the DOHC. I test drove one at MLS and a Brute Force and the King Quad is my favorite out of Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki. Everything I read and watched reviews on just led me back to the Kingquad. That being said, any of the other Japanese quads would’ve been good for sure! I am loving my quad. The power is incredible, even without power steering it handles very well. I can basically ride this thing like a sport quad while using it for some light work around the house. @@DirtObseXXion Makes sense and I'd never considered that about doing comparisons (need to be the same type/flavor of bike to be meaningful and helpful). I'd really only thought of the Rubicon because it's a Honda - reliability - and the newer ones look nice (graphics etc.) and mostly the DCT but yes boring. It's currently a 3-way race between these two and not the Brute Force near solely due to its twin except apparently that somehow makes it wider. Plus the Brute Force is supposedly stiffer riding and possibly really bad lighting unless that's fixed. I think these two are probably better in most other ways but hard to say as haven't seen comparisons between them side by side. I see many have asked for that and you might in the future soon.

Great review! My husband and i have had many kingquads, and feel they are very underrated (don't seem to be promoted by suzuki or their dealers). Biggest complaints is the lack of storage, lack of aftermarket parts, wish the electrical components were sealed from water better and the locations of the cvt intake( but fine if you stay dry all the time). We liked that they have shitty tires from factory, so we can put our own tire and rim setup we like. Ours have been up in the mountains and down to the muskage(kind of like swamp) and every were in between in alberta. We hope to see more out on the trails!

Very good review guys. Love your unbiasd channel.I also love the fact that you ride trails and are no mudders. a quad is much more than something to drown in a mud hole.I ride Kings for years and love them but i also like the Grizz. Put good trail tires on the king and a set of aftermarked rims so it gets a little wider and the width of the front and the rear are the same. Perhaps a coop mod that really wakens up the King.Thanks for the effort of making these you tube movies. You put a lot of energy and love for the ATV into it. I appreciate this.

King Quad 750 engine runs cooler and has updated oiling system with a piston skirt oiler thats the main reason i went with it. Brute force is the most fun of these two I think. The power just hits different on the brute. I think the v-twin makes it a lot better for wheelies and playing around on little jumps. The brute feels more like a sport quad then these two but that’s just my opinion. Biggest down fall tho is the Brutes Suspension kinda sucks. And it hasn’t changed in almost 10 years now

I've done 17,000 off road miles on a 2013 brute force. The engine is a standout on the brute. The v twin torque is brilliant off the mark and is addictive plus with the transmission setup of the kawasaki means its super smooth on even the rougher stuff where as the grizzly needs to be in low range but when it is there is not much difference. The kawi suspension feels very overwhelmed when you push it over the rough stuff whereas the grizzly is super composed at higher speed. Lights on brute are garbage. Trailer and yard work there is no competition. Grizzly does it all effortlessly. The brute just too soft and squats at the rear.

Great review. Been really waiting for this one. Surprised the King stacks up the way it does. Prior to watching this I would have bet it was no contest Grizzly wins. However with higher build quality, better air box, better fit and finish, more power and 2k less it’s almost a no brained for me. I wouldn’t push it as hard as you guys do since we normally have kids with us on their quads. Buy a bumper, winch and a slightly better yet light tire and I think the king wins. Plus then it’s the way I want it. Hard to believe Yamaha hasn’t done something with that air box. That’s a let down. Need to go to the aftermarket to insure your not sucking dirt. Thanks again for the videos guys. Absolutely love it.

When we talked about doing this, we knew whoever struck first was getting the Grizzly.. Brian struck first. But I can tell you before he swapped those tires out he was worried he made the wrong decision.. The Grizzly is the better machine, we wouldn't deny that, but it's closer than we thought and you can typically find better deals on the KQ... A 2k price difference makes the decision easy, but a 500 or 600 dollar difference is going to be harder.. Hopefully we covered enough points to help folks decide!

Smaller motor than both of these two but if you're not looking for all out speed be the Honda does about 55 mph which is plenty for the kind of trail riding I do I rarely see over 40. When I was shopping for tires for my AC 700, I went with the zilla's because here, we have all types of terrain except sand. But all trails have various points where there are mucky watery sludge mud you must cross. So I went with zilla's. You guys are spot on, the performance in the trails is lacking, especially in the steering. So to all, zilla's are great at what they are for, but the steering SUCKS
@EC_ATV_Outdoors
@EC_ATV_Outdoors Жыл бұрын
And I forgot to mention, hill climbing with loose rocks is also bad with zilla's. I only have a couple of those here. When climbing these spots I've had no issues with outlaw 2's on the Polaris HL, the AC 700 with big horns, the KQ's stock Carlisle, bear claws, or the stock Polaris 850 touring tires. But with the AC 700 on 27" zilla's I actually failed to get up and had to get off to safely complete the climb. Now take into consideration, if I started off faster I would have made it, but I also don't have to do this with any other tire I've used. And I do 5000+km per year (3k miles) so it's not like I have no clue at what I'm doing. They aren't bad tires, they are just more purpose built tires that will have limits in some terrain.

I am going to buy 2 quads at one time based on Dirt Obsession opinions. But one final shootout remains for me to make a comfortable decision. The one no one has filmed. Sportsman 850 Ultimate Trail vs Outlander XTP 850. The Grizzly has locked in 1 slot just for handle bar position when standing. But also need a trailable work horse to drag logs. That will be Polaris or Can Am. Hoping you guys can film it. Ty for everything you do.

I had a shuffle on in the truck last week and in back to back videos on Dirt Trax I learned where to buy a gas can and sour patch kids if I’m ever in Canada and then listened to a review on 570 Polaris Ranger 2-seater with a dump bed…. I heard next week they were going to review the top speed of a John Deere Gator and the new toppings at a local pizza joint. I can’t wait for that must see action. How would a honda rubicon 680 do against one of those???
@DirtObseXXion
@DirtObseXXion 7 ай бұрын
Not very well... The Rincon 680 has a 3 speed transmission which never feels like its in the right gear no matter what and non adjustable suspension.. It's much more of a work machine than anything you'd have fun on.. Im honestly surprised it's still around.

Ain’t got patience to watch the entire video so I don’t know what’s covered but my personal experience is grizzly is short wheel based which is tippy as fuck especially hill climbing, but also in deep snow they are unstoppable where the kingquad is more stable but wider turns the grizz but over all both good
@DirtObseXXion
@DirtObseXXion 10 ай бұрын
Lol! We kind of covered that, although we put 25s on the Grizzly so it handles amazingly well, but yes both great machines!

I have a 2015 honda rubicon deluxe that is IRS. I feel it rides pretty good. Does anyone know how these two would compare to it?
@DirtObseXXion
@DirtObseXXion 7 ай бұрын
Yep! These ride like Cadillacs compare to the Rubicon in my opinion.. I like the Rubicon , but the CVTs are a lot smoother than the DCT transmission and I always felt like the Rubicon handled like a boat. The Grizzly handles particularly well (with smaller tires than the Zillas) and the EPS is better.. The KQ is closer to the Rubicon's ride feel because of the shorter suspension travel, but still rides a little smoother over rough or choppy terrain.. That said, once you get use to something, the familiarity becomes a preference... Kinda like riding someone else's bike when you're a kid.. So if you're thinking about swapping, give it some time to adjust to the new ergonomics and ride feel

Im planning on a Sasquatch expedition i the high sierras what would be a better quad for packing in gear but fast enough to outrun that big ole Saquatch if i piss him off?
@DirtObseXXion
@DirtObseXXion 4 ай бұрын
You won't be able to outrun a Sasquatch on a quad.. It may seem possible at first, but it will be a trap, there will be an ambush... It's best to play dead at first... He's going to violate you, but if you're lucky, very lucky, you'll end up in a domestic situation with him. It won't be typical to modern sensibilities about domestic partnerships.. You'll be considered more possession than partner, but after a few years, if you play cards right, you'll gain enough of his trust to be allowed out of his sight.. This is when you can make your escape.. So you're going to need a quad that will still start after several years of neglect.. Either of these will work, but this exact scenario is what the Grizzly was designed for.. The KingQuad could easily handle the mission, but as you rode back to freedom you would feel an overwhelming sense of guilt about riding a quad with King in the name after clearly filling a femine role in the domestic arrangement you were held captive in for such a long time.. Grizzly is a gender neutral name, it provides time to adjust without the irony.. I hope this helps... Good luck 👍

Rolling force? if its strapped down Its not going to move! Better fit and finish? That is pretty much up to how good the dealers mechanics are in as that dealers do some assembly and if you ordered it with accessories dealers do the The "clowns" that installed my winch at the dealer literally left out Bolts thankfully my buddy and i are mechanics and pointed out the horrible work and had it done correctly before i took it home.. You basically dumbed down the grizzly, soon as you swapped tires out your "shootout" is BS.. A skilled driver on the stock Grizzly against skilled driver on king will eat that suzy up! lol A for effort D- for actual accurate info..

I completely agree that dealers can screw stuff up, but we pointed out legitimate shortcomings in Grizzly fit n finish.. Swapped out tires because I agree with you that skill for skill the Grizzly is better, 100% due to handling, which is terribly compromised by 27" zillas.. I like the Grizzly a lot better, our point of comparison is in saying I like it 4 grand better than the KQ (based on the prices we actually paid).. I kept the Grizzly and sold the KQ..

I'd get the suzuki and spend the 2000 bucks you save on good tires and bumpers. My bud has a 22 king and I had a 14. The newer grill/front end on the suzuki is crappy in muddy conditions. The grill shovels mud/water right into the rad. We had to block off the lower 2/3 of it to keep the rad clean, he was over heating non stop on mildly muddy trails. There's also no side protection for the rad so it gets sprayed by mud from the sides too, we also blocked this off. I did this to my 14 as well but the old grill kept it out of the front. You can ride in tire deep mud without getting the rad dirty after these mods. You dont have to do this to the yamaha, the rad/front end is set up like this stock. You can shim the clutches and drill the weights making them lighter on both machines to tune the clutch for about 10 bucks. A 1mm shim with 2 gram lighter weights brings the king to life after you put good 26-27 inch tires on it.

You're the second person to mention vulnerability of the radiator.. We'd have thought it would be the other way around because the KQ rad sits further back and is easier to clean.. Great info tho! Not concern for me because I avoid deep mud whenever possible but I guarantee that's gonna be helpful for mud guys..
@nseric1233
@nseric1233 Жыл бұрын
@@DirtObseXXion The mud doesnt have to be deep at all the plug the rad, splashing through puddles is enough to plug it up. I'd block the lower 2/3 of the grill off and the sides of the rad on every king quad that might see a mud puddle.

Great comparison video! I like the close up videos showing the similarities and differences. Case in point tge foot well area and A arm guards etc. Both machines seem to be great for their intended purpose. I'm interested in seeing maintenance work comparison. Oil changes, brake pads replacement etc. Again Excellent video guys!
