we installed a leach field like that for a park batch house with showers. They were considered high capacity leach fields. The panels were 42 inches wide. 300 foot was the maximum length allowed by state law for a leach field of any style. We did 4 new construction bath houses that summer. 150 thousand a pop. I guess they are alright. The state had all kinds of rules we had to follow . The demanded a manhole between the house and the Septic Tank and another before the Distribution box . So we buried the top cone until it was the right height, filled it with sand and poured a concrete floor with a flow channel. You had to be careful handleing the lid or it would bottom out inside the hole. Rules.

Hint! I have used the chambers a lot they are very good. After digging up a failing system I noticed two things. There was a lot of silting dirt that penetrated the chamber. Since then I always cover the top with fabric, they say you don’t need it but trust me it will give them years of extra life. The second part is where the pipe enters the chamber. Constant water running into the chamber has a tendency to dig a hole where it drips into the chamber it will build the dirt up on the back side blocking of the whole chamber. I started putting a piece of thick plastic the same size as the chamber is square. so if the chamber is 24” wide my plastic is 24” x 24”and placing it under where the water drips in, under the chamber itself. it worked out great. The plastic is about 1/8” thick. I hope this helps out some people.

We are not allowed to cover them and has lot to do with the type of dirt we have and high either table
@toddreynolds88754 жыл бұрын
I live right on the boarder of Connecticut and ri. So we do septic in both states in ri cover them with dirt , in Connecticut back fill the slant edge ant over top 2 inches with washed stone then filter fabric
@jayphillips40584 жыл бұрын
I agree - we have areas here in this high mountain valley that have fine silts, and it's essential to keep the laterals from getting sealed up..water-permeable fabric helps a lot, adds years to the system. Areas with high water tables are being herded towards a mound system of some sort. State won't approve open-air aerobic systems yet, but I suspect that they'll eventually see acceptance.

I think skid steers are a good bit of equipment for certain tasks but an excavator buddied up with a forward tipping dump truck (remember the ones you guys seen at the auction in Florida I remember you saying I like them but I don't know if I had the use for one) you would be suprised how handy they are. Ideal for moving material over short distances and long if need be. They come with a swivel tip so can rotate skip 180 degrees and if your on good ground you could drive Pharrell with a trench and backfill a pipe with stone etc . Then if you reverse a flat blade bucket on excavator with quick coupler you can scoop out stone sand and concrete. Had no access for concrete truck other day and emptied 3 yards into the 9 tonne capacity dump truck to pour small base .got concrete were it needed to be and poured the concrete with excavator. I see chris on the other channel when he using the mini excavator and in tight areas and they are up and down hauling with the skid steer and bring material one scoop at a time it just doesn't make sense to me burning fuel were there half a dozen trips saved by bringing all that you need or near in alot less time. Just something to consider when they are on flotation tyres they can go anywhere and are very trouble free basic set up no frills are workhorses in the UK and Ireland and will see them on every construction site. And your def right about blade on excavator I think a blade on mini excavator is nearly as good as skid steer for grading out small areas of stone pads etc but that mini excavator can dig and the skid steer can't (see were I'm going) a mini excavator buddied up with a front tipping dump truck will save you alot of money it is two machines I know but those dumpers are peanuts compared to skid steer. On those smaller jobs I would bet it save a hell of alot on fuel. That grader attachment is great on skiid steer other from that I only rent one for cleaning out cow sheds. Not telling you what to do think you are running a great business there just giving my opinion keep up the good work 👍

I have never heard you say "I really, really like this" (or love) with the Volvo in comparison. We know you want it! Make it happen. I would be so happy to hear you say "My new Hyundai!" Is this style system cheaper than the Presby one??? I am guessing that the drainage varies greatly in your area? Here in Iowa, the above grade sand systems, are only used in poor draining soils. Right where I live we are in an old lake bed and most of the ground has some sand in it. So it drains well. silting of pipes is a concern. I am wondering if Mike/Matt get more work done than Mike/Kleeman/HUGE amounts of videoing. LOL Keep the good videos coming. Like seeing the different country side.

Septic question. Once the pipes get to the actual weeping system does the PVC pipe just end or do they continue inside the half culvert section. One I’ve seen before had pipes inside with holes along the top but it was a positive pressure system with a pump in the tank to pump the liquid and it would “spray” out the holes in the pipe under the half culvert section.

21:18 What I am about to tell you is a true story. When I was 13 I went to Bristol Bay to help my Dad on his fish boat. While staying at the cannery I had made friends with an older guy. One sunny day we were out by the dirt road that went by the cannery. He went to the side of the road and cut a branch from an alder tree (they are more like bushes). He came back up from the ditch and cut the branch so it was reduced to a "Y" with the larger part being the bottom. He then asked me to hold the branch with each hand tightly around the smaller upper parts and hold it so the bottom thicker part stuck up in the air. He then asked me to walk down the road which I did. He reminded me to hold on tight which I did. Suddenly the thicker top part pulled down and the bark under my hands where I was holding the branch broke loose from the force. Turns out the main water line that led to the cannery was right at the spot where the branch moved. I am somewhat credentialed - I have a BS degree in Electrical Engineering (1980) and am a few courses sort of a Math or Physics degree, so I am not prone to being superstitious or whatever. But I am sure that we have a way to go yet before we more fully understand our relationship with Mother Earth and the surrounding Universe than we currently have.

Dug up more than one like that, fixing silted-in or root-bound Infiltrator laterals, was obvious where they had been freezing solid during the winter months. At least with the Hyundai you can see out the windshield without looking around the wiper blade. Rubber tracks only belong on a skid steer loader.

That would never fly with the inspectors in the northern area around chicago you need stone under all pipe and up to the spring line . Its proper beding of the pipe. Helps from no dips in the line after a ton of earth is placed on top. No way to set a proper bottem in trench with out it even with lazer period.
