Vittoria just released the Agarro but I've been lucky enough to be on it for the past seven months. This is what I think about it.

Hey man, thanks for the review! Do you have any opinions on the Agarro vs the Barzo? I love the drift control of the Barzo but wish it had taller knobs to punch through the piles of leaves in the bottoms of gullies.

@@cwesty9341 definitely faster rolling and lighter, but didn't last long. About a month of riding I took it on the whole enchilada and got a few bad punctures that wouldn't seal even with repairs, so I gave up on it and went back. My aggressor DD was heavier and slower, but it lasted much longer and could take more abuse.

I just fitted an Agarro 2.6 to the rear of my FS bike a couple of days ago and I'm really impressed with it. Really fast, really grippy. I'm thinking of getting another one to put on the front.

Great Review! I know this is old but when I worked at a Trek shop in AZ I always pushed Vittoria Mezcal II's III's after using them F&R on my HT XC bike to people riding XC. They were great fast XC tires in the dry! My first were the old Saguaro's back in 2011 and I loved those and could never wear them out. Anyway I was about to try a Agarro F or Mezcall III F & Martello R. I'm on a Niner RIP 9 RDO 150mF 140mR in the midwest on hardpack dry to damp singletrack. Any recommendation would be great! I'm on a 2.4 Rekon R (I like) & DHR f (its to slow). I want fast but grippy for the climbs and to bomb back down at 40+. Terrain is loose over hard or just hard clay 90% of the time. Thanks I know this is an old video..... :/

I feel like a beta tester but I ordered 2 in 27.5x2.6 to replace the factory tires on my Giant Stance. The tires that came on it did relatively fine, but they suffer from the maxxis wobble.

How do the Agarro tires handle mud? With the Barzo, they really retain mud and become super slick on rocks and wood features. Also with the Barzo, they require more air pressure to provide cornering grip (to stiffen the tread at the edge of tire) compared to Maxxis. Enjoying your videos. It's nice to see other mtn. bike places than the PNW, desert or Cali.

Hi man thanks for this review! Would you think that a Martello front and Agarro rear would be a good combo for me? I mostly rides trails and try to boost off of all trail features, and occasionally hits downhill parks? I've recently gone with a short travel evil following, and am worried about the martellos rolling resistance and the agarros traction at speed

@DirtWireTV My experience with Vittoria tires is that they tend to run a little narrow. (Peyote on my single speed and Terreno Wet on my CX bike) My Trail Bike has pretty tight clearance in the rear. How true to size do these run? Is the 2.6 a true 2.6 or is it quite a bit smaller? just trying to figure out if it will fit in the rear or not.

Hey man, how are these for long distance trial rides? I'm looking for new tires for my Chromag Rootdown, which is a really aggressive hardtail (160mm travel fork, slack, steel). I've got Maxxis Minion DHF and DHRii tires on it now, and they're great for descending, but they are so slow and heavy feeling when I have to pedal. I'm looking for tires that i can still use for hard-ish trail riding, which is most of what I'll be doing, but also roll well enough for bikepacking. My hardtail is my do-everything bike, and since I plan to bikepack on it, I need some do-everything tires as well. I know just having different tire sets would be ideal, but I can't really afford that. I also don't really want to change tires frequently, since cushcore makes that really hard. These seem like they could be it!

You mentioned Kingdom trails....so you think these work well in typical new england dirty singletrack (ie millions of years of decomposed leaves)?

I’m sold on this as a rear- wondering if a Mazza will work well in New England for a more aggressive front tire
@Dark__Thoughts
@Dark__Thoughts 3 жыл бұрын
Did you give it a go yet? That combo is what I am considering too. Mazza as a heavy duty tire to keep the front safe and secure, and Agarro for a little more fun in the back.
@JohnR-uv8ty
@JohnR-uv8ty 3 жыл бұрын
@@Dark__Thoughts yes and it works well. Mazza is very heavy though so I’d probably go 2.4 front next time
@Dark__Thoughts
@Dark__Thoughts 3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnR-uv8ty Did you go with the trail or enduro casing? Because the enduro casing is a whopping 1,3 Kg and I think more comparable to Maxxis downhill casings. A little sad about the grey sidewalls, but 300 more grams per wheel sounds a little ridiculous.
@JohnR-uv8ty
@JohnR-uv8ty 3 жыл бұрын
I started with the 2.6 enduro casing but it was making my poor 34 flop like a fish and moved to the trail casing. Because of the extreme weight The grey actually looks really good when new, but it does show more wear from folding and pinging off of rocks. TBH much better and more neutral than the big yellow maxxis
@Dark__Thoughts
@Dark__Thoughts 3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnR-uv8ty Not a fan of the yellow Maxxis logo either. :D But that also doesn't cover the entire sidewall.

How do these feel weight wise? They seem to be on the heavier side of trail tires, but maybe the low rolling resistance imparts a lighter feel? How about wet conditions? Nobbys seem tightly spaced.
@DirtWireTV
@DirtWireTV 4 жыл бұрын
They feel light to me (especially compared to the more Enduro-worthy tires I'd been riding) but I'm not really a weight weenie. They're great when it's slick out but I don't know how they are in the mud because I try not to ride on those conditions. Our trails are wicked sensitive!

@@adanielweaver Mazzagarro! Sounds like an Italian luxury sports car. Gotta look the podcast up, because that combo does sound intriguing, and tires is one of those things that I am still unsure about (building up my first hardtail).

@@Dark__Thoughts ride like a luxury Italian sports car too, but my friends call them pasta tires haha. On my custom hardtail I run an agarro on the front and a barzo on the rear. That gives me the fast ride I'm looking for but with enough traction for the terrain I ride my hardtail on.

I just bought this exact bike and it's been great so far. The stock tires (albeit very grippy and robust) feel a bit heavy and sluggish, especially when I'm jamming to keep up with the fast xc guys. I'm curious if the better rolling of these tires is significant enough improvement to warrant the change. Would appreciate your thoughts before I drop the cash 💰 thanks!!
