poor dennis had a bad childhood, in the episode after den return back from the dead he revealed to vicki that he was abused by his mother's boyfriends or something like that and he wanted to get to now den but den was always horrible to him and then at den' funeral dennis cried proving he is the best eastenders character of all time and nigel is also probably one of the best actors in ee too

The only good thing about this is him loving her as brother doesn't last very long. He resumes yearning for her by late May and definitely by late June. Do love they added this layer of longing to the Shannis relationship though.

Love the Shannis storyline; their chemistry was off the scale and the way they looked at each other. Nothing wrong with them being together either, as they were not related. Although, I get why Den didn’t approve, just thought his methods to split them up were cruel and unnecessary. 😊

He's using what happened to dennis as a child to get his own way. He half cares about what he went through but he also wants him not to be with Sharon so he's offering him what he always wanted, a bone, all of them together by saying you'll be my son and you'll have your family's love. Dennis sees that's what he's doing and that's why he left Sharon for a while to be with zoey. He wanted love of a family and den used that to manipulate him. That's why he said you don't care about me. You're manipulating him. Pressing his buttons and using his weakness to get him away from Sharon. True he didn't want them together of course. It made sense but as Dennis said, he didn't love him like that to see him as his son so he can't be with Sharon his adoptive daughter. It might be true he wanted Sharon for himself but knew everyone would be disgusted. He'd probably never approve of any man with her. The way he turned on Dennis after Sharon left showed he didn't love him and he said he didn't love vicky enough either

She was the only child in his life, well before Vicky and way before he knew Dennis existed. But obviously at the time with Angie they wanted a child, so they decided to adopt Sharon, then she was way to special to Den than being with Angie. He loved Sharon to death

This is a great scene and one of the best performances from Leslie Grantham. I truly believe Den loved his son Dennis, from getting to know him. However, he adopted Sharon from a young age and brought her up, so it was always going to be incredibly difficult for Den to accept her and Dennis as a couple. Of course, it’s a soap opera so conflict was always going to occur within the Watts family but I’d have liked to have seen Den, Sharon, Dennis and Vicki stick around a lot longer as a family and introduce more Watts family members to the show.

I loved and hated Den as a character...He was great for drama and meddling, but he didn't half mess up Dennis's head....He was always 'Dirty Den'...But on his return he was twisted and perverse....I honestly saw his tug of war over Sharon as some sort of twisted rivalry with Dennis...He was a cold bastard towards Dennis, and knew exactly what 'Daddy' buttons to push...It was heartbreaking to watch Dennis thinking Maybe...Just more mind games from Den here, and he claimed to Love his Princess :((

Den actually did care about Dennis otherwise he wouldn't have bothered splitting them up and having him back in the family. He would have split them up and banished him. Den tried but he simply couldn't turn his back on his own son. When he finally did he was mentally ill after losing Sharon. He knew before he was killed he had destroyed his kids but in typical Den style blamed Chrissie instead of himself.

It's not illegal. They weren't blood related and met as 30 year olds so had never even been siblings together. It's just 2 random people falling in love and the only connection was Den Watts, who they presumed to be dead when their relationship started. It was an impossible situation for him, but Dennis and Sharon didn't do anything wrong.

This story line ruined Den's return IMO. It would of been soo much better to see the father/son relationship grow and takeover the square from Phil. Absolute horrendous storyline between Sharon and Dennis.

Yes, of course adopted kids belong to their families, but Sharon and Dennis didn’t grow up together and didn’t even know each other existed until they were well into adulthood, so the deep-rooted family connections weren’t there. Also, you can’t help who you fall for.
