Looking at the mot bible it states. 4.7.1. Presence, condition and operation You must inspect all motorcycles fitted with front and rear position lamps. The rear registration plate must be lit. Most motorcycles will light the registration plate with a rear position lamp, but some will use a separate registration plate lamp. Some registration plate lamps may be fitted behind the number plate. Some mopeds might not have a registration plate lamp. So if I were a bike tester I would fail it if it didn’t have one.

as for the lettering in embroidery terms it IS gold, its the thread colour is the one used for rolled gold/gold work for things like heraldry and the colour used as a part of 'goldwork' so it's a case of the people who asked for the embroidery being given EXACTLY what they asked for and the people asking having NO CLUE what they should have asked for. It's a case of both sides using the same word but having completely different meanings. they both know what they mean but never checked that the other side understands it to mean the same thing.

People pay that much for an Enfield? Back when we sold them in the 90s, it was converted to gbp about 1200-1500. Even with inflation that's nowhere near 6000 today. My father in the 70s and 80s had Yamahas and Hondas that, according to him, had way too much power for their shit brakes, soft frames, and crappy tires. A bunch of his friends went and got themselves killed on their bikes. In the mid 80s he got married and had a kid. I'm guessing he didn't want to leave my mother a mangled up corpse, like his buddy who got buried in his leathers because they were afraid the dead body inside would fall apart without them. When he was in India and saw people puttering around on these dirt cheap Enfields, that at the time were pretty much only meant for the Indian domestic market, he found the perfect bike that didn't even make it technically possible to go 200 down a country road. So he decided to import them and get them homologated for the European market as a hobby, because he wanted to have a cheap bike to putter around with. I remember him telling me about how the brakes were too shit for ( I think ) Belgian homologation, too noisy etc. He got the factory to rectify all these problems, and lo and behold, after a few years he had his Enfield 100% legal to putter around. Even got to the Brussels Auto salon right next to Ducati, since whoever had that place originally went bankrupt like a month before the show and the organizers were doing a fire-sale on the spots that just opened up. He had the brand new 500 to show. Back then there were more people still alive from WWII and they remembered these old bike the British soldiers were riding around the Ardennes, and the bikes were quite popular with them. The 500 though had, after someone told them about how shit their brakes were, ...a disk brake in front ( I think even a fairly good quality Japanese one ). People hated the disk brake, so Enfield got some high quality drum brakes fitted on bikes that were eventually sold to the public. We still got the prototype with the disk brake in our shed somewhere. I remember why we sold them for these prices and not cheaper. Whenever we got a Container full of bikes, we needed on average about 3 bikes to screw together 1 good one. Usually parts had rust from the factory, shitty welds, bent or dented parts... These weren't like the pre-war Enfields that were put together with at least some precision. My father had his fun selling bikes for say 10 years until he got fed up with the encroaching nepotism at Enfield. People that had no idea about bikes or the bike market suddenly were something like the official whatever for Europe. With these new "executives", the factory suddenly became completely resistant to criticism and would no longer improve their product. Also the new "totally didn't get the position because they are a cousin" people constantly made it harder to even get orders in so they could justify their role. And despite their product still being low quality they wanted more money. So my father got out of this entire thing and happily let other people take over that mess. He found a new hobby in importing Scottish Whisky. Not sure if you still need to combine parts from several bikes to get one that is in good enough shape to be sold, but 5500 - 6000 gbp? That's not what these wonky things are worth. I guess Enfield doesn't actually sell bikes in India anymore, because the last time I was in India, it looked very much like their domestic market was dominated by Japanese bikes. And who could blame the Indian customers, you get so much more bike.

It looks better but I don't think the custom job has done the bike any favours. Seat looks like a ferret ticklers cap. I can't wait until he customizes the Lead wing. Flat tracker or Bobber? I wonder if he is truly happy with it now or is just holding back the tears? If it were me, everytime I went in the garage I would see 15k flash up in my eyes and here someone shouting bell end! I reckon that super Chris has used this to his advantage to promote his business. Clever lad👍

Just found I could get 2 low mileage Street Twins and nearly have enough left over to get an Enfield Interceptor with what’s left over.

no charge makes sense from a PR pov at this stage. It looks good and it isn't going to cost you anything in the grand scheme of things. Plus something to do in a quiet period I guess. given they've cut stuff of the frame and done permanent alterations to it surely that requires a full SVA inspection now.

Looks like the clutch gap is due to the lever possibly hitting that mirror bracket.
