The chain on my Ktm enduro bike keeps getting caked in mud - it must be a design fault. Come to think of it, the seats hard, it’s quite tall, the tyres go slippy on wet mud and I fall off it a lot - definitely the bikes fault!! 😂😂

Hi Matt, I had an issue with my brake & clutch fluid turning black after a very short time. I bled them both at the levers and hey presto no more blackness. I'm guessing it was just caused by air in the system.

Similarly I have a bike and the fluid goes from new to the colour of tea (with no milk) after a few weeks use. Would be keen to hear any informed opinions.

Had black stuff in fuel lines once when doing something with pump and balancing carbs. I remember thinking it looked like rubber that had broken down but never found a definitive cause. Bike's still alive 4+ years on in any case.

About the speedway bikes, just ask me. i did this sport up until European level. didnt had any money, so we did everying our selfs. so any questions or clafication about carbs and methanol...we can talk about it!

just finished my new moped. revised the whole engine. mate of mine had a new cilinder with a new piston for free. didnt check anything, assumed everything was okay.... and when i want to get the carb right, i couldnt get it right. at top rpm it had this, fladdering, stuttery sound. cant really explain it. everyone, and i mean everyone, ITS THE ETHANOL!!! took the cilinder of after a week of effing around with jetting and shite.... it was the piston.. the piston didnt belong to that cilinder, massive blow by. now people are saying, its the ethanol, it ate the piston... moral of the story, people are stupid, dont listen to most people...

I'm not sure I'm following you homie. Undersized pistons can cause a lot of problems, including "ate the piston", but the blow-by you mentioned is generally a function of the rings. edit: What I mean is, the possibility you had the ring gap wrong and they failed. You obviously didn't measure the piston and the bore before assembly. Is it possible you didn't check the ring gap either? You didn't say if the piston actually failed nor the condition of the cylinder.

@@Chemically_Induced Yeah, let me make this a bit more clear. i found out the piston doesnt belong with that cilinder. the rings where fine, most of the blow by where between the rings and the piston (piston to small) so not between the rings and the cilinder. cilinder it self is also fine, someone most have swapped that piston with a different cilinder. these things happen. but because i got it for free, and it was new.. i assumed it was alright, i should have meassured that piston and the cilinder.... afterwards i bought a new cilinder with piston (didnt want to f around with oversized pistons and all that crap.) and no, no piston will get eaten by some ethanol...
