I REALLY like how often you take a step back and remind us of the bigger picture of these metabolic pathways. I feel like it's common to forget why you're learning about this stuff once you get into the weeds of memorizing intermediates and whatnot. And taking a step back and reminding youself of the big picture is a good practice for everyday life as well, so I find that helpful.

Red blood cells lack mitochondria (and nuclei). Maybe instead of glutathione being related to G6PD anemia, some of the other functions of NADPH are the cause? Maybe it is amino acid synthesis?

Kudos for the Video clip! Sorry for the intrusion, I am interested in your opinion. Have you considered - Peyvery Phrenic Prevalence (google it)? It is a great one off product for get your original hair color back and look young minus the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my old buddy Taylor after a lifetime of fighting got astronomical results with it.
@SadhuBiochemist Жыл бұрын
I think most biochemistry textbooks still underemphasize the importance of NADPH for glutathione detoxification. Because mitochondria are always producing oxygen radicals, NADPH must be essential to detoxify the cell. I think most biochemistry courses that I have taken don't even have enough time to discuss NADPH and glutathione in any detail further than a mere mention.

Awesome video as usual ;) So if someone that takes NAC or glutathione, would that be in the reduce or oxidized form? Would supplementing with glutathione help bypass the G6PD deficiency or should someone need to take NAD to supplement the lacking NADPH due to a prior enzyme deficiency? Maybe beyond the scope of this video, but for functional purposes, how would one lacking the conversion enzymes get reduced glutathione to properly detox?
