I worked on one of the NASCAR teams funded by weed. We weren't involved in the smuggling, just worked on the cars, but we knew where the money was coming from. Spends the same as legal money on paydays. We never wanted for anything as far as the cars went. Different times back in the 80's

The story is entertaining. The guy broke a lot of laws, did so intentionally, kept it up till he knew he was being investigated, got caught, did some time. Is now out & sharing his story. I assume he is making some money off his story. Do I respect the guy? Not really. Not sure if he seems to accept responsibility for his actions or the effects his choices have had on other people. Did Dale sort of play into the click-bait hype a story like this was going to have? Oh yeah. He did. About 50K views in one day and a lot of posters below saying how cool they find Lanier's story. It's working just like the algorithms / internet marketing predict it will work.

Also with weed being more generally accepted and legal in some places there is almost no chance that another driver gets to fund his career with the weed smuggling game. But thanks to that, Tyler Reddick has funding and can win races and I hope there is more support from weed sponsors in the future.
