My dad passed away at 59 years old. He, like your dad, never expressed his feelings about how he felt about me and my brother. We knew, but he never expressed it. It was at his wake when a couple of his co-workers came over to us and told us how much our father loved us and how he was so proud of us. "He talked about you two all the time and his face would light up when he did" We were so surprised to hear this. Again, we never doubted his love for us, but to hear he actually expressed it to his friends at work was something we never expected to hear. It's been 30 years and I miss him every day. Dale, never apologize for talking about your dad. I think keeping his memory alive is a wonderful thing. Dale Sr was my hero and I miss him every day. I got to meet him and spend a little time with him and he was the nicest, kindest person. I was lucky to see the real Dale, not the Intimidator....and I am thankful for that every day!

Same I lost my dad 4 years ago and when I see Dale JR. Talk about his dad or eager to hear a story about his dad I love it. I’d be the same way. And another thing is me and my dad loved Dale Sr. And dale Jr. Never met em other than a suttle moment when we had pit passes. I think my dad did get a couple autographs from both. But I remember when Dale died I cried like a baby at 12 years old because nascar and Earnhardt meant that much to me and dad and was a big part of our time spent together. I’d give anything to be at Talladega or Daytona with my dad right now going crazy when the #3 or #88 made a pass or took the lead. Memories I’ll always cherish. After Dale JR. Retired I haven’t really watched much racing at all. It’s nit the same with out #3 or #88/ #8. Love Dale Jrs pod cast and stuff tho. But hope they talk about his dad every show.

The podcast with Hank Parker could be the most interesting , informative and entertaining interview I have seen on the podcast. Your raw reaction to these moments makes it even better. Get Hank back on!!! It was interesting to learn about Hanks plans with Neil Bonnet. Dale FYI. My father died when I was 21 years old and I never remember him saying I love you. But his actions said it many times. Things were different in those days, it just is what it is. I do tell my sons not as often as I should. Keep up the great work.

Dale. I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels this way but as far as I’m concerned the whole show every episode could be about your dad. I love the dale stories. Like most everyone else who grew up in the 80’s I thought he was the best thing ever. It’s so good to hear the good and the flaws about him. I too thought my dad didn’t care about me. I always thought how mean he was but now after hearing these stories I have a new and different perspective and appreciation for how my dad was. And only now in my 40’s do I see how the way he was shaped my life, values, and moral systems. Of course i realized all this after he was gone. I appreciate you for what you do. I know you’ve worked hard and could just have retired and lived your life but these episodes are the therapy some of us needed. Man if that suburban is still sitting at the airport that is a treasure. Definitely worth getting and restoring I can just imagine all the good times and talks had in that thing. Thanks for all the memories man the red #8 with the nose all taped up at talladega is my 79 Daytona. I’ve watched that race probably 20 times over the years. I still get goosebumps when I hear mike joy say “this is for the win “

Never apologize for "so much Dale content". As a diehard Dale Earnhardt fan I love this!!! Me personally, I feel like I get to know Dale the "everyday guy" and THE INTIMIDATOR both. Really brings out the "human" side.. the emotional side.... of my hero... THE reason I ever got into NASCAR. I was 27yrs old and watched the baddest man on the track hit that wall and I literally had tears in my eyes when he didn't drop his window net and didn't answer the radio.... this keeps him alive for many of us. Jr you are not alone! Those thoughts about your relationship with your dad are very close to the relationship with my son. I raised him on the hard life lessons like “We work from CAN to CAN’T no less. And you work hard and smart, you can achieve your goal. I worked so hard to set things up for him to take over much later down the road,as he worked along with me. But, that whole time he was just devoted to me and not working towards what he really dreamed of doing. One day we had a very heated conversation about life, that was the last day he ever worked for me. Now, he works his dream job, Sportfish Captain for a great family and I am so proud of him. I still do the same thing as always but find time to work with him every chance I get and love it. We understand each other now. Unfortunately, You just never got to that part with your dad.
