I always wondered who built the Stroker Ace Thunderbirds. Things I noticed wrong when it came out were the front and rear hubs being regular five lug(stock Fox bodies were four) instead of GN and the wheelbase was too short.

“Stroker Ace was born to race he had a mean streak 2 feet wide. A son of a gun with a taste for fun and more than his share of pride. Take a dirt road curve with the devil’s nerve and make a car dance across the mud, haulin’ shine was the breaker line til the track got in his blood. He was a real hot shot and he bragged alot but man that boy could drive, cause he loved the feel of a steering wheel and the girls with bedroom eyes.........”Haven’t seen that movie in decades but i think I’m going to find it online and watch it yet again. Awesome interview!!!!

A Great time, during Charlotte’s peak! God I miss it! You could be working out at King’s Gym, and run into wrestlers, or even famous musicians at Melvin’s Reliable Music. Charlotte area had it all and VERY LITTLE traffic. Mooresville was just 2 exits on 77 with a Burger King!

Absolutely one of the best series I've watched! Almost as good as watching a Nascar race from the 80-90's... I do have a question... The original name of "Stroker Ace" was supposed to be "Stand on it"... Is this why John Schneider made/named his recent movie?

You can bet Ford had big plans for the new Tbird and the movie was a good jumpoff point to see if the 83's would make a good stock car. Boy did it ever. Great aero car. I loved them when they came out. I was going to buy one but wound up with a Mustang GT 5.0 Liter. 1986 and my son now has it. These Dale Jr. shows are great.

The book "Stand on it" is the best book ever written about auto racing. They totally butt screwed it with that movie. MAYBE someday someone will make a REAL movie of that book, it totally deserves it. I wish DJr would talk about the book, who he thinks the characters are in the book, in real life. For example - Sam Bisby in the book is Curtis Turner in real life.
