However the number of people who feel the need to express their disgust for it in public spaces is astonishing. Was driving my 8yo daughter around yesterday and two people gave me the finger. There seems to be some assumption that folks who buy the CT are only doing it for attention. I’m not. When Ford introduced the Edsel, there was a similar very divisive and challenging political environment at play. I wonder how we all could discuss the similarities of these events or just what we are currently experiencing without being so positional.
@4huggies5 ай бұрын
I think the public disrespect for anyone based on their personal decision is completely unacceptable. But I do have something to say as to why people feel the way they do towards the car and it’s part of something you said on this reply. You say “I wanted the best car on the market” and this is where most people go crazy. Listen, if you want the coolest car on the market and also the want it to be a truck there is no denying that the cyber truck is that car and the best car on the market for you. But it is not the best car on the market period. It is not functional for most, it is poorly designed, and has too many reliability problems to meet that criteria. It is this believe that upsets most.
@kestrelglassingsystems67045 ай бұрын
@@4huggiesi appreciate considered engagement. But that’s not what I said. I said I wanted the best EV truck. And it is by far the most useful EV truck available. So far I’ve hunted out of it 200 miles from the nearest supercharger, towed my 31’ airstream to campgrounds in central Idaho, hauled full sheets of plywood, today I brought home two mattresses, hauled rafts and kayaks to the river… sure seems useful as a truck to me. As far as reliability, maybe there’s a question mark there, and while I’ll admit that tesla does suffer from fit and finish issues, their drivetrains are rock solid which is more than I can say for my 12 year experience with an F150. ICE trucks are continually becoming more complex to meet fuel standards and this 100% leads to reliability issues. So, maybe the jury is out on the long term reliability on the CT, but after 6 years with a model 3, I’m willing to gamble. As far as design? Please… based on what? Have you looked under the hood? Driven one? Experienced how they drive or feel? Withhold your judgement until you have first hand experience. As an engineer I’m extremely impressed by much of what they’ve done with the bones of this rig. Yeah, it’s got a few warts, but I see nothing show stopping.

You Corolla owners, lots of you know what I'm talking about.) No oil changes. No smogging the car. No going to gas stations, ever! The up-front price was a lot higher. (We always pay up front.) I have to somewhat disagree about towing. I often tow a dual axel 16ft. flatbed trailer. I have a cabin in small town in Arizona about 70 miles from my house in Phoenix and well over 5000ft of climbing. Half of the route is a dirt road. It does this route really well. Sure it uses more energy. I do have to plug in when I get there but still the cost is way less than gas and the ride is amazing especially on the dirt road. My F-350 beats me up on the dirt but in the cybertruck it is almost like the road is paved. I hardley notice the trailer as well. It saves a huge amount of money while travelling. It costs 1/10th of the cost travelling on vacations, the only time I have to stop at super chargers. The exact trip in our Acura MDX cost us $178 while the Tesla Y cost $19.33 for a 420 mile trip. Unbelievable. Hate getting into a cold car in winter? No problem with Tesla - you turn on climate control a few minutes early and it will be toasty. In the summer, it will be cooled. You don't need to drive engagement or have badging, when everyone does a double take and immediately has to know what the heck that thing was. And by the time they find out, they're positively invested and are almost guaranteed to have had a good experience before the media or what they've heard about Tesla from online has a chance to kick in and affect their opinion of the brand.

I have 100k miles on my Model Y. Thinking cybertruck next because I drive on dirt and gravel roads a lot. I recently removed 5 5-gallon buckets of sand and gravel when I dropped the underbody panels. This was not the first time I'd cleaned it. You've had that issue on a model Y. How does it look like the dirt accumulation will be on the cybertruck?

Personally I love the look of it. I don't get the hate at all. Lots of cars, crossovers, trucks that I don't like the looks of, or are very bland and boring but I don't go on social media to express my hate for it. People are so weird.

Telling it like it is! More people should be so rational and level headed. We also have Teslas and will never go back to ICE, but more power to those who want to drive gas cars for whatever their personal preferences are. Do your own thing!

My friend and I are Cybertruck owners and we have both experienced haters on the road flipping the bird. Luckily there are more people who like the truck. Odd thing is it is more motorcycle drivers then regular ICE trucks. We both love driving our truck. My truck towed a 21 ft bayliner from sea level to 8,000 ft 98 miles with 7% of battery left starting a 100 % charge.

I’m not a super huge fan of the truck but honestly you changed my point of view for sure, like this truck has stuff that is pretty sick and it’s not for everyone yknow. But it’s a nice truck for people who just want something nice and out there and that’s new. The best feature I think is definitely how you can use the battery when you have an outage that’s one of the coolest features I’ve seen, I’ll give them props for that 👏

Thanks -great video and sums it up perfectly. Yes, the CT is still kind of ugly 😅 but I just want one. You mentioned that it’s not great for towing, but I actually disagree- it’s really GREAT for towing, FOR SHORTER DISTANCES which don’t exceed your range. The reduced range when towing is only a worry if you’re towing a long way. Example- my son has a RWD Model Y and tows their 19’ boat all the time. He says it’s absolutely effortless, and tows dramatically better than his diesel 4WD, only caveat being range reduction whilst towing means it’s not ideal for LONG tow trips. As for us- five years coming up with Tesla (M3P) and we couldn’t possibly be any happier. I have no plans to update, (even though the new one is even better.)

Your comments about how the angry negative comments don't make sense are exactly why I think most of the angry negative commenters are a paid / fake attempt to influence through social media. A normal person would not do those things. I hate golf -- I know other people love golf, but I don't care and I don't spend any time watching golf videos and commenting about how golf sucks, etc...

It seems like the efficiency numbers my model S shows me seems to just be for how much energy the motors use. It doesn't include A/C, FSD, dashcam usage. The reason I believe this is because it tells me my average is 294 kWh/mi. Yet my range is barely 180 miles on a full charge even though it states I can go 222 miles.

I started making KZbin videos for much the same reason. I had a ton of questions that I couldn't find the answers to sometimes. Then when I got my Nissan LEAF then Model S I received a lot of questions and I wanted to share the details that I couldn't find previously. We've now driven our S up to 140k miles and now we have a Model Y too. I was 37 years old when I bought my first electric car (Nissan LEAF) and I'll never go back to ICE if I can help it. I did have to purchase a gas truck while waiting for the Cybertruck to tow my RV. The RV I purchased because I was planning to have a Cybertruck. And now the Cybertruck doesn't appear to have very much towing range. [Sad Face.] I also get periodic hateful comments on my channel for EVs and I think the same thing...like why are you here watching these videos if you hate EVs so much?

I got my reservation up and we own 2 Teslas (3 and a Y), but we just can't justify the Cybertruck with the lower range. If the price and range matched the original, I would have already thrown my money at them. We'll see how it goes in the next year, if the price goes down or the range goes (way) up. Spending $20k more (above the original estimate) and then another $16k to get an extension to still fall short of the original range promised, I just can't justify it.

Since I first started buying cars I never buy the first year production model. There are just too many design/manufacturing issues to iron out. I violated that rule when the Ford Escape came out. It was the perfect SUV for me and I was willing to put up with any issues. I was not disappointed. For the Cybertruck, I actually find it incredible that a brand new vehicle with so many innovations has as few issues as it has had.

Before electric vehicle options came out I was looking to buy or build an electric conversion car that would get me to town and back and the park and ride and back. So my requirements were a range of around 25 to 30 miles. Tesla's came out and I finally bought a first year model 3 in 2018. Wow, much better range and performance than what I was planning on before. I even take it on multi thousand mile road trips. Electrics are much more interesting and fun to me in many ways than my old gas cars. One problem is that I like to drive it too much. I've got 100K miles on it in 5 years.
