In 2001 Monte Carlo (Pace Car) the Red Fuse is next to the Gray Relay box marked CLS (Maybe Cluster). Followed the sequence and it started. Before the fix the Key Fob, Lock Buttons, opening and closing the doors did nothing, also the Rear dome and Rear Mirror lights stayed on until the battery went dead. All Fixed! Thank you.

I love that this is an issue, but if they break my window they can use the unlock button to get in the rest of the doors. No alarm. They can even press my trunk button to get the goods.. but they can’t start my car! With or without the key. 😅😂

I am confused. You say "grey fuse" and pull the red fuse. I changed the ignition and key in my 2001 Malibu but still have the theft system lock intermittently. The 10 minute on/off/start runs down my battery and even though the car doesn't always start after the 10 minute wait, a jump starts it right away. I am ready to pull the fuse but want to be clear about it. GM are idiots to make this problem for owners. Thank you.

I have a 99 pontiac sunfire, and you look at your fuse diagram and take out the cluster and IGN, and it worked. I bought a battery charger and tried other methods, and they didn't work.

BCM fuse. Note: this will not work if there is an active malfunction with key or ignition switch. only when the problem is intermittent and triggers theft deterrent. Actual replacement of ignition switch or Passkey sensor is recommended.

this should still work on your suburban, this method was tested on 2000-04 Chevy Impalas. Your Body Control Module BCM may be located in fuse box under the hood. Check fuses section of your owners manual as may be tied in to a different labeled fuse. In your case I would try the standard procedure as follows: 1. Key in ignition turn to on postion. Do not attempt to start the vehicle. 2: Wait roughly 20-30 minutes for security light to turn off. 3: When light turns off, start the vehicle.

Mirrie Mayhem. Turn key to on position. If your battery drains down before the 20min relearn is done. Battery is getting weak. And probably should be replaced soon. Have it tested at your local parts store.

Is there a similar procedure for 2001 Yukon? I have tried removing and replacing the TBC 10A under the hood, but still having this issue. I replaced the ignition cylinder and the ignition housing and I cannot get into the relearn procedure as directed for the passlock system. I get it to crank, but shuts off after 2 seconds.

That's funny I have a 97 Chrysler Town and and every once in awhile I'll try to start it in the alarm will go off so I just got out shut the door with the key in turn it once or twice and it shuts the alarm off.I didn't even know this had an alarm on it until about a month or two after I bought it and it went off took me awhile that time to figure out how to shut it offI think that may have just disconnected the battery the first time

The most honest answer is a combination of reasons. The design consists of 2 magnets transmitting data. 1- Cigarette ashes and metal shavings from the key wearing down can short the magnets and sensors. 2- the key itself can become magnetized interrupting the signal. 3- people who slam their key into their ignition can shock the strength out of the magnets. Then the signal no longer transmits.

If all u did was replace a lost key... 1 Put new key in ignition, 2 turn to on position but do not attempt to start vehicle, 3 leave it in the on position till security light turns off (usually takes 20-30 mins), 4 when security light disappears start the vehicle

Catbread. There is a small unit that can be purchased from local car audio stores usually used to bypass security in radios that can be installed to bypass the car security.

However aftermarket starters and alarms do malfunction and most of the time installed incorrectly. Trying to disable factory security cause your aftermarket equipment is faulty isn't the proper way to solve the problem.

just looking really quick, it is tied to a fuse labeled LBEC2 in the under hood fuse box. Try both methods being the video and procedure in my last reply. If 1 or the other does not work then you have an active malfunction and nothing will reset the theft deterrent until repaired. If this is the case generally replacing the lock cylinder and the 20 minute relearn procedure will fix the problem. Sometimes the PassLock sensor is separate from lock cylinder and should be replaced as well. I can make a video showing you how to do this if needed.

BAC usually a dealership has to do it after replacing ECU. You could try the 20min relearn. Put key in, turn ignition on, leave it for 20min or till security light turns off. Start vehicle.
