EIPH (exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage) is common in thoroughbreds. The loop diuretic furosemide (trade name Lasix) is used to prevent it. In the USA lasix is legally used on their horses. I don’t think it is used in the UK. This Il est Francais est un “bleeder”. The good news for the horse is he didn’t die (unlike the 3 Cheltenham horses). I suspect Abuffallosodier also had EIPH leading to a cardiac arrest. Perhaps it’s time to have a debate about lasix?

Does seem daft to race him with 5 weeks to king george to me it's one of 2 things , horse takes a lot of training & needs prep race or they want the price to go out on king george day

Big double fence, he lost his purchase on the ground with his hind legs. The ground was strangely giving way under the horses

Any chance Gran Diose can make the trip over ? Looks a very impressive chaser.

Never thought much of this horse, but in his defence he had a pulmonary haemorrhage (bleeding on the lungs). This takes around 4-5 weeks to recover from. He won't be making the King George. I suspect his career will be cut short as he has had this problem before.

i'd give him a break, tough race heavy track waterbanks etc. If going KG would rest him. Wouldn't be so prominent with him either.

Something felt wrong before the water jump, that's why he was switched to the opposite side of the fence . It might just be something small but the jockey wasn't confident going into it and was making sure that there wasn't a pile up if he fell.

Pulmonary Haemorrhage = bleeding in the lungs. Think this must be what happened to the horse at the end of last season as well. Seems very poor training that they are trying to make what looks like a 2 1/2 mile horse with electric jumping into a restrained stayer and doing it whilst running in a bog. Be very surprised if this horse ever reaches it's true potential and I think you can scratch it for the King George.

Why do we have French horseracing commentaries like cartoon racing similar ? Is it because the commentator dude is in a booth in england , kidding on he's in France at the racecourse ? If he did the same at Ascot or Epsom ,he would be sacked forthwith......
@neilwatson446112 күн бұрын
The French racing commentators actually do work in France in a studio and provide the commentaries in English for worldwide viewing, sometimes they can be calling three to four meetings at a time doing a mix of flat, jump racing and trotting all on the same day, often can be anywhere between 25 to 40 races

Consistent bumper horse though failed to win, markedly improved when put hurdling and actually unbeaten in that sphere. Despite a positive start to chasing, he became inconsistent, running well and then not performing. Looks like he jumps lowish and flat, presumably bled and that might explain the bad performances, as it’s probably not the first time he has done that. I have been saying that the KG is substandard and has been for several seasons. It certainly would seem that is correct as he is still only 10/1 for the event. Can’t really see him actually lining up, 4 weeks after this would appear too close given the bleed. Nice performance by the winner, robust sort and kept on galloping, but if IEF is actually a solid grade one chaser, then NH racing is in worse shape than i thought
