Disassembly, cleaning, and deassisting the benchmade barrage

Took apart and removed the spring assist on my barrage years ago. I just recently took it apart to clean it and left it disassembled and forget some things on the reassembly. Thanks for the video, it jogged my memory.

"I don't really care about people enough to be famous." That's some funny shit. Edit: also, the assist spring has to be in place and captive to loosen the pivot bolt. Mine just spun freely until I figured this out. (To reset it, do the thing where you extend it past where the stop pin would be, while applying pressure, until you feel the spring seat. THEN, you can remove the pivot bolt.) 👍 Good and helpful vid. Thanks!

Hello, this is a nice instructional video. I recently purchased a BM mini vallation which is an assisted opening knife and found out that I don't care for the assisted opening feature. Do you know if I can do the same thing you did here to my mini vallation to deassist it or is it a different mechanism? Thanks in advance!

You should be able to deassist the vallition in the same way tho I don't own one so I'm not 100% sure

My barrage doesnt have a detent after i did this, would you happen to know what mechanism creates the detent?

the detent is part of the spring so removing the spring also removes the detent

I recently watched this video and de-assisted my Mini Barrage. It worked great. There is a hint of blade play after I did the de-assist. Did you find this to be the case? I've got the pivot screw down just as tight as you can without making it too hard and put a bit of loctite on there to prevent any backing out. Is this normal after de-assist?

I spray mine out with electronics cleaner then spray in some kroil or liquid wrench from a bottle

Sorry for the late reply, try checking eBay someone probably sells parts from scrapped knives, if you can find the part your best bet is to sent it back to benchmade for a repair

Never had one of those apart but I'm guessing the mechanism is similar so it should be de-asistable

There are lots of reasons to De assist,a knife. In my area it's tecnicaly illegal to carry an assisted knife. thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.

I actually prefer it deassisted, it opens just as easily and closes much easier
