When removing the temperature sensor from the stick, it can be unclipped so that you can unwrap it instead of sliding it over the end.

after replacing broken "sticks" and reassembling the battery into the car, does the software needs to be updated? Or all IMA faults will be cleared automatically and the car can be driven with right away?

After installing the IMA battery, we must disconnect the 12v battery (negative and positive) under the hood. Wait 30 seconds. This will allow the computer to restart and determine the status of the newly installed hybrid battery. If it's good, you will have no problem generally and can drive away. No need to see a dealer. You will know if it's bad. Follow instructions and study very carefully. Then, you will have no problem except for those that the hybrid battery will give (i.e. not working well). They can drive well and for a long time with the check engine code: P0A7F.

Kevin Williams load tester tests up to 14 V and even more. You can test every each of the cell to see which one discharging behavior is different than other. if your ima battery is too old and you always have ima light , odds are all cells are bad and you need new complete pack (11 pairs). I meant for Honda ima system, all batteries has to be in same charging capacity, if one is different it’s not going to work car will be stranded Vs in Prius, battery capacities doesn’t matter that much, it’s tolerance is big if you replace one or 2 bad cell it will run without any light.

I just took a reading of the voltages of my cell pairs which vary from 16.0 to 16.58, is this enough variance to worry about?

That's pretty good. Don't worry for a while. You will know when it's going bad. And, even when it is going bad, it may still go for a while. Wait for check engine codes and don't fix the battery too early. Get your moneys worth, then move straight to new sticks when you feel they are too bad. Or, grid charge and discharge them using maxx volts. That's my best option.

You could try checking the voltages across low battery packs to see if you have to replace all of them the ones with the low numbers are most likely the bad ones

Voltage does not tell you much especially with Hondas, Most of the time the bad cells in Hondas still have good voltage. the best way to tell is with test equipment but there are not cheap machines that do a good job that are available

Hi, guys I have replaced two of battery sticks, followed the instructions strictly, but after reassembling, the car don` t recognized the battery module at all, ima, check engine and red battery lights are lighting on the board, the hybrid system is not functionally. In the junction board (from the flat washers) I have meassured 75 and 90 volts, but 0 volts in collective + and - connectors after I reinstall the battery in the car, and put the switch in the on position. Finally I was put back the replaced sticks, but I have the same problem. Can you help me with some ideas, instructions, please?

These batteries are NiMh. Lithium modules are found in the later model Honda hybrids. 2013ish and up

There are different sizes of the orange/green stacks, and they are not interchangeable. Different models of batteries, different cars or years, I'm not even sure. Even the distance between the bolt holes are different. I suppose you could use the smaller size in the larger case, but they won't be tightly held in place. The difference is only 1 or 2 mm, but it's enough to make interchange impossible, near as I can figure. Any ideas??

No. It just has as different origin. The batteries degrade as time goes on but it is a negotiable amount until it gets towards the end of its life. Eg. A new civic battery may get 35mpg and a 10 year old, and good, battery will get about 33-34. The batteries are "over built" because they knew degradation is inevitable so they did not want mpg to drop after a few years

yes, we recommend replace all of them with new or remanufactured cells. the old ones do not last long and cell switching does not work well, especially on hondas
