Disaster Detail of a Destroyed Audi | Adam’s Graphene Ceramic Coating (Advanced)

Destroyed paint saved by Adam's Polishes graphene ceramic coating (advanced formula). The worst scratched up Audi A 8 that I have ever worked on. I had to work extremely hard to remove as many of the scratches as possible before saving the paint with an up to 9 year graphene ceramic paint protection from Adam's Polishes. One of the most satisfying jobs I have ever done.

Duder, this coating is one of the best I have used. When people ask what I recommend (because I will apply whatever if they have a preference) I tell them to check out what I have on my own vehicles. Adam’s Graphene Ceramic on all of them. The OG formula is still going strong on my Atlas at 20K harsh conditions miles and 2.5 years. It’s so dope. I’m pumped to hear that it works out East as well! I can’t believe how much easier that Adam’s Graphene Ceramic Coating looks to apply than the Autokcahn one used on the 50/50 detail of the Mazda 3. It looks incredible and that paint correction transformation was drastic! Nice job! The vehicle looks like new considering how old it is! Welcome to the P4S family and I am sooo pumped to have you! The domino helped so much the first time I tried it so I just kept it up. The sandpaper was 2K and then followed by 3K. 2K makes such deep scratches but cleans well that it just needs to be followed up and leveled out with that 2K!

I posted another video w/ a VW Beetle a few weeks ago and I filmed a segment talking about this same exact question from another viewer. I have a no cut, no edit clip in that video to help show it visually. In case you don’t wanna watch that one. With lower temps 62, in the garage, with moderate humidity the time from application to level was roughly 30 seconds. That other video does show that though. Hope that helps!

Absolutely! It is very comparable to the Adam’s. I think the Adam’s may have a bit more longevity, at least in my tests. Very very similar products though. Similar installation too.

Hello Sir would you touch up The rock chips before or after paint correction? Also how long would you wait to apply the ceramic over the touch up paint?

Depends on how you are going to repair the chips. If you are gonna sand down the paint, like if you were repairing a long scratch, I would wait until after. Paint does take a bit to dry though. If it is just a few chips and you are going to be touching up with a tiny drop of paint, you can get away with paint correction then chop painting. Without an accelerator to dry, a full paint should cure for 30 days ish. However, I have ceramic coated after 24 hours with relative success.

Great video, not the right polishing cut, should do a 3 step and your results would be 100% better, cut with a rotary and finish with a DA.

Hey Bernardo thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Topper question is solid. Adam’s Graphene Boost is probably the best solution. The thing with toppers that you want to be careful with is over application. If you use it too frequently, it can get a little hazy. The Graphene boost is rated for 6-9 months, so it’s not a bad call to use it about that time. Turtle Wax makes some okay products in the sphere too, but the longevity isn’t as great as the Boost or the ones you pointed out.

Was there enough of the graphene to do the wheels if you chose to use that instead?

Yes there was. I chose to do it because I wanted to test longevity. This customer didn’t know how long the wheels would be on it, so they weren’t overly concerned with how long the Graphene held. I told them I would recoat if the DLUX doesn’t hold.

So I did the prep steps to help the Graphene bond, but I didn’t paint correct it. The customer didn’t care much for it and I did the inside of the jams on my own dime. The polishing of that spot can be tricky because it is so tiny. In some cases, I’ve done it, but not every time. Good catch though friend. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

You totally have a point RGL. It isn’t anything other than a lack of habit. I get in the groove with after shots and post detail cleanup that I often forget. Doesn’t help that on most of these coatings I wrap up at 3 AM. There were for sure some of the deeper scratches remaining, like you can see in that C Post after shot, but I do appreciate you pointing that out homie. I will try and remember for the next coating. I appreciate you watching and giving feedback. It really helps me to improve.

I can see that. From personal experience, I can’t say that they last the 7 or 9 years that they have on the label. I’m going on about 3 years with the OG formula on a VW Atlas w/ about 24K miles since application through all four Utah seasons and it is still performing just as well as the day applied. I use the ceramic boost and don’t use stripping washing or drive through car washes. I would say that so far I am a believer.

Really appreciate you watching. With how bad the paint was going into it, the next step was wet sanding if the customer wanted it. The customer got a steal of a deal on this car and the cost for wet sanding and then this would have been more than they paid. They only wanted a two step and accepted that it wouldn’t be perfect. Mainly because of cost. Same reason why I didn’t touch up the chips.

Jeez, you just put a 9 year Ceramic coating straight over top of those awful paint chips in the surfaces! Did you even offer to repair those prior to that coating for the customer? How hard is it to buy the Duplicolor two stage chip repair kit on Amazon, and lay in some base coat, then some clear, then denib it to even out the surface, wet sand it, THEN do your compounding to make it all disappear? An extra hour at most, and you'd have had a far better job in the end. Now you have a Ceramic coated car that would require you to literally wet sand the coating off before you can fix those chips properly for the paint to bond. Ugh. Also, de-iron the entire car's paint, just just the wheels next time.

I absolutely agree that a great solution for the rock chips is what you liked out, though there are a bunch of products. However, the customer bought this car for quite cheap and wanted the swirls corrected and the paint protection added. The additional cost of rock chip repair prior to paint correction wasn’t what the customer wanted. I would love to get to where I can just absorb the cost of such endeavors, but I do have to run the business, and am not in a position do to it (working towards it though). I do the chemical decon on the entire vehicle for all of my details. Followed up by a physical decontamination. I’d have to rewatch this video to see if I included the clip. I play around with editing, so not sure which parts make it into every final output, they get jumbled. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and to comment. I know that time is a precious resource and you not only watched, but took the time to critique, which I think is awesome! I really appreciate the feedback.
