it looks like an amazing game, I actually tried playing it this weekend, however.. I'm an alcoholic, 3 years sober, I spent two and a half of those three years in rehab, and this game hits very close very hard right from the beginning. I'm probably not ready to play it yet lol

Congratulations on 3 years of sobriety--that is wonderful! Yeah, this game really hits close to home on a lot of issues and I felt horrible at times controlling this poor man. It's a testament to the writing that it hits on so many emotional levels.

@@Zpicismrad You can totally play the game as an ex-alkoholic, trying to remain sober despite your own body telling you to get a drink. And you can even sort-of succeed at that. That's the genius of the game. You really can roleplay there.

Incredible game with a superb story. This game came out at just the right time in my life. I was going through a really hard time with a breakup and child custody battle. Feeling really depressed all the time, I was drinking a lot and taking a lot of substances to cope. So in a way I could really relate to the main character of this game and what he was going through, the "fallen from grace" so to speak and the heart break he was feeling.

I am so with you--it's such a good story and it is an incredible game. Harry is just so relatable, and the characters are so well written that even the oddballs seem relatable! What a game.

I just bought the final cut version on PS4 and was so glad I did. I’m now playing it the first time on hardcore mode and I’m having a blast. The art, the voice acting, story, lore, everything is crafted with love and care. I’m so in love with the game. Highly recommended, a 10/10 masterpiece.

A game with vast, oceanic soul such as Disco Elysium doesn't appear often, which is precisely why I find it curious how both it and another game of equal strength in writing and design were both released in 2019, the other one being Pathologic 2. To me Disco Elysium is up there as one of all time greats and for which I have a deep connection to, reminding me of so many events in my life all the way from early childhood days around the Baltic region to 20-something old club / raving days to the beats of Scooter's HARDCORE. :,D (DE just reused their songs' lyrics as characters' dialogue, lmao.) In comparison Pathologic 2 was a slow burn, even when I had played (at least tried to) the original nearly two decades ago. It's a subtle game which leaves you feeling disturbed by something abstract. Later the more you discover about the obfuscated history, philosophy, psychology and hmm... esoteric concepts the more you understand what the game was going for.

Wow, thank you for recommending Pathologic 2! I hadn't heard of this one before!
@Silent_Depths5 ай бұрын
@@DrIncompetent Give it a try (or two as it may seem frustrating at first) when you get a chance. :) It's brutally difficult even with the lowest modifiers, definitely a survival and horror type of game. Unlike Disco Elysium you're on a real clock to solve a murder and everything else that comes with it, so on one playthrough you won't get the full picture. There's no need to play the original. Pathologic 2 is both a reboot and a sequel, but the core game and story remain the same. Also your own character death won't end the game and that's all I can say about that. :D

I've recently fallen in love with this game. I love the art style, all the different voices in his head are amazing. Whoever did the voice for his thoughts should win an award for this. Plus I'm a recovering alcoholic with 3 and a half years sober so I can relate to the main character sometimes much more than I'd like to admit haha

It's just an incredible game. I agree so much on the voice acting. It's the best I've ever heard.

I am a person who grew in communist Poland and saw the damage communism done to the people. I saw the struggle, poverty, food stamps, lying politicians, propaganda. And then I saw hard and painful transition into democracy and free market economy. This game really resonates with me as it brings back so many memories of my troubled youth.
