Forget the criticism and the knockers. Your setup is complex for a mobile rig but hats off to you and it was interesting and exhausting watching you set it all up! Bet it looks great at gigs and you definately earn your money! Well done!

If I ever hired a DJ and they sat down, I would fire them. I have been DJing for almost 15 years and the only event I have ever sat down at is a March of Dimes 24 hour walk to fight cancer.
@michealscott29718 жыл бұрын
Travis McGuire well you can sit down unless you programed the music from the dmx. Just to eat something or take a break

I think the only people who say there are too many lights. Are DJs I dont think you have too many lights, i personally think if they were arranged slightly better then it would look the dogs danglys. I love the star cloth to hide all the cables. Very nice setup and definitely some inspiration for me to take to the drawing board

I wish I had a girl who was into it as much as I am. Every move I make, every dream I have , every time I want to buy a new light etc., the wife cries the blues! dude, you are so fortunate.

Weighing in - I like the setup. I never thought to use a scrim to hide the cords - I have my truss pre-wired and labeled for easy setup. I have many lights on my truss - 2 scanners, 2 moving heads, 4 min lasers, a color palette, 4 special effects and a gobo. Overkill, perhaps.. but as you said, they don't even remotely run at the same time

those cables still needed tidying up and also those speakers need raising so the woofer is about adult head height and the tweeter is just about their heads

Thanks for sharing your video. I personally also think the amount of lights you have used here is ridiculous. Overkill to the extreme. But I wish you all the best. Thanks.

only fault I could find is that the top speakers aren't quite high enough... just that the high frequencies would get absorbed in people right at the front. I usually set speakers at at least head height, if not more depending on the size of the crowd. Otherwise than that, lovely setup :) love the backdrop from the truss. nice one

really much stuf in here, its packed till there is no space left, but exactly it still looks nice and i definely would keep the scanner and the led pars but maybe replace the 6 lasers for 2 rgb laser. and i recommend ilda because it just got endless more options than dmx. how long did it thake to set this all up.

100% chaos. Try this: 1 good RGB laser in the middle 1 strobo in the middle 4 bright scanners 4 LED PARs And most important - use, really use DMX for controll it. Spend few hours to program the lights and your clients will be 2x more satisfied ;)

Without haze lighting effects will be useless Better off using 4 par cans and one hemisphere 5 by chauvet in the middle. Been djing since the 80s I rather spend more money on better sound systems than lightings for mobile gigs and also learn how to read the crowd and also beat matching is a plus
@anthonyalbury53909 жыл бұрын
edwin de dios i've only been djing a few years, and I agree with you. better sound equipment, reading the crowd, and beat matching has gotten me a lot of gigs. i'm just sorta getting into lighting.
@edwindedios18929 жыл бұрын
just make it simple i use 4 LED moving heads and color wash and a really good sound system. the rest read the crowd music programming and learn basic skills of a dj beatmatching. it creates good vibe and energy to the dance floor

Can you help me what lights to get cuz I'm going to be a dj also what laptop should I use? Mac or windows for djing and the lights have to be really bright
@avp071310 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Some people have said... "too many lights"... you can never have too many lights. Setup time is the concern (for me, as I'm a 1 man operation). I bring 12 lights myself. The audience's perception of the lights is very very minimal... they just know they are visually stimulated and will have a good time. Yes, of course it is better to have programmed lights for different "scenes" but ultimately its a small difference to the audience. Take my word for it... I've been a NYC "clubbie" for 30 years and a DJ for 15 years.
@FormatDub10 жыл бұрын
You can definitely have too many lights on a set-up.. Less is more.. Having fewer lighting fixtures that can do a lot is much better than an overkill lighting set-up that can start to look tacky and silly.. It looks much, much more professional to have fewer lights, spaced out..
@Revsounddj10 жыл бұрын
your Are so right never to many lights more more more change is good 2 lights gets old and 12 light don't i'v got all types of light in my show.
@avp071310 жыл бұрын
FormatDub The crowd doesn't care about a light bar looking tacky/silly. The crowd doesn't care what controller you're using, The crowd doesn't care about what name brand subs you have. The crowd only cares about the end result.... the outrageous lightshow and your song choice and sound (to an extent). The only person who will care about your equipment is another nosy DJ who happens to be at the event.... and you can tell him to kick rocks.
@Revsounddj10 жыл бұрын
DJ Tony Vito your awesome that is exactly what i think too bigger is better every time no one in the crowd cares about anything but how much fun there having thats it. thank you for being kool.

Always welcome Eric. I've been going to disco's, and clubs since the early '70's... nobody cares what kind of equipment or what kind of lights are being used. They only care about the fun.

agree with not siting down, but with the lights at lest they can change the lighting for different songs which is good and there is two people, so one on lighting one on sound. if they where both doing sound it would be like the saying ( two many cooks spoil the sup ) and anyone know what light truss they are using

the whole time i was wondering when will that plastic "truss" collapse ? I also agree with the rest, to many effects, 8x par (56, 64 whatever fits your needs) and 2 scanner gives a better basic. And get some fog to see the light beams instead of aiming it at the ceiling lol :P

I am pretty saddened by all those people that say it is too much or whatever.. At the end of the day by having loads of lights on a truss, it gives you variation. After all, you don't have to turn them all on at once, but use different effect to provide a show or set a mood depending on what music you play. I just hope you get paid a decent wedge to cover your investment. It seems that many people are just not fussed if you turn up with 50 lights or 4, as long as you are cheap!

Just when you think they are done, more gets crammed onto the rig. It's just overkill. The fact it takes two of them to complete installation speaks volumes. The speakers are way too low and the cabling is dismal.

"Aiming the lights" is called focusing. A quick "bench focus" of all your lighting fixtures should be done prior to you cranking the lifts into a locked position. Also build a few cable looms. It will help speed up the load-in and setup of the entire lighting package and will most certainly help organize the load-outs and tear down. That rats nest of cables you hide behind the crappy backdrop is ridiculous.

At the end of the day, It looks very tacky. People will not want to blinded by all those lights in a small hall. If your in Wembley Stadium; Yeah go for it.. You'd have to charge hundreds at each gig to make a profit with all those lights aswell. Un-practical...

Nice lights set up only thing that suck's is the kind of music you people are playing .I DJ if i were to play that at a hip hop party i would get my ass beat and beer bottles thrown at me from the get go .
