Maybe I’m misremembering, I swear discord would only notify by email about the subscription ending if one DIDNT have a payment method attached. Im looking at my old emails in 2022 and I see no warnings for payment if i happened to still have a method attached, even if it was a gift. I was caught off-guard having recently received a reminder before being charged unlike what I remember.

I kind of see it both ways, while it isn't really /that/ difficult to cancel your subscription, the people who designed the user interface definitely put effort into guiding people away from that option. If you page through the settings almost everything you click to perform an action has a larger "button" style instead of just a web hyperlink, but on the subscriptions page they made the "Cancel" button a tiny hyperlink beside the large "Switch Plans" button. It really is the kind of thing that feels only slightly scummy, probably because every company with a subscription is doing something similar, so I've just gotten used to it by now. If I had really poor vision it would be more of a hindrance perhaps, but if I was having that much trouble I would hopefully have figured out how to use accessibility tools like screen magnifier or screen reader. Oh by the way, thanks for showing that dialogue window where they offer a discount if you don't cancel, looks like I can get 30% off a subscription this month hehe.

I'm not going to sue Discord over the hard to cancel subscription to Nitro, because I never allowed them to take my payment info for a free trial of Nitro. I had no interest in it knowing that they will make it difficult to cancel and/or I will have forgotten about it and then it would have charged me for a month of service. No thanks. I don't have enough money for my needs let alone my wants. I'm *this* close to homelessness. I currently have a home, in an RV on my parents land, but they can't continue to pay for my electricity or my propane for cooking. I'm struggling so hard right now because I'm disabled and cannot work and do not yet get SSI and don't quality for SSDI because I've been disabled most of my adult life.

If you get a lot of documentation and a lot of documentation about your disability from a doctor it would be very hard for them to turn you away if you haven’t worked most of your adult life anyways. 😮

You know what sub is hard to cancel? Siriusxm. They will do everything to keep you and wont let you cancel.
