The author of "Treasure Island" draws from it a fascinating story, "Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes". He is then far from imagining that the path that takes him from Monastier-sur-Gazeille to Saint-Jean-du-Gard will one day become one of the favorite trails of the French. Becoming the Stevenson trail or GR 70, this hiking route crosses four departments: Haute-Loire, Ardèche, Lozère and Gard.
