Very cool process. Not gonna lie though, I was sweating bullets watching him adjust the runout in the chuck *while* the machine was moving. Nothing mangles an arm quite like a large machine with insane torque. 😥

How does one determin the angle the hobb axis must be on to produce an involute gear is it the pitch angle across the OD of the hobb, or an cmplimentary angle at 90 to that?
@WorkMachineEquipmentTechnology Жыл бұрын
To produce an involute gear using a hobbing process, you need to determine the angle of the hob axis correctly. The angle you need to consider is called the "hob pressure angle" or "hob angle." It is not the pitch angle across the outside diameter (OD) of the hob, nor is it the complementary angle at 90 degrees to the pitch angle. The hob pressure angle is the angle between the hob's teeth and a line perpendicular to the gear's axis at the point of contact. It is a critical parameter in gear hobbing because it affects the shape of the gear tooth profile and influences the gear's performance. Here are the steps to determine the hob pressure angle: 1. Understand the Gear Specifications: Determine the required specifications for the involute gear you are producing. This includes the module or diametral pitch, the number of teeth, the pressure angle, and any other relevant parameters. 2. Choose the Pressure Angle: The pressure angle is specified in gear design and can range from typically 14.5 degrees to 30 degrees, with 20 degrees being a common standard. Select the pressure angle according to your gear design requirements. 3. Set the Hob Angle: The hob angle is typically equal to the pressure angle. In other words, the hob's teeth are angled at the same degree as the specified pressure angle. This ensures that the hob generates gear teeth with the correct involute profile. 4. Align the Hob: When setting up the hobbing machine, make sure the hob axis is aligned with the gear's axis and that the hob angle matches the specified pressure angle. 5. Hob the Gear: With the hob properly aligned and set to the correct angle, you can proceed with the hobbing process to cut the gear teeth. In summary, the hob angle, also known as the hob pressure angle, should match the specified pressure angle for the gear you are producing. It is not the pitch angle across the OD of the hob or its complementary angle at 90 degrees to the pitch angle. Aligning the hob at the correct pressure angle ensures that the hob generates gear teeth with the desired involute profile.

Why did you mount change gears on the differential compound if you cut a spur gear on the FO6...👀👀
@RajRaj-dl5xm3 жыл бұрын
Its a requirement of Hobbing machine setting... Though we all know differential gear are for helix angle but still we have to adjust change gear in differential section by maintaining "0" degree

climb cut if you want a better finish. that looks like crap. if youre gear grinding of course dont worry but youre not using a protuberance hob. and your rake on the cutters is crazy too. youve got heaps of rake. it changes the actual pressure angle that its cutting.
@WorkMachineEquipmentTechnology Жыл бұрын
I appreciate your feedback and suggestions regarding the machining process. Climb cutting can indeed result in a better finish, as it reduces the chances of chip buildup and can provide smoother cutting action. However, it's important to note that climb cutting can be more aggressive and may require careful consideration of factors such as machine stability, tooling condition, and workpiece material. Regarding gear grinding, if that is the process you're referring to, the approach can differ from conventional milling or hobbing methods. Gear grinding typically involves the use of specialized grinding wheels and machinery to achieve precise tooth profiles and surface finishes. Regarding the protuberance hob and rake on the cutters, it's essential to select the appropriate tooling based on the specific requirements of the job. Different cutting tools and geometries are designed for various applications and materials. The rake angle plays a role in determining the cutting forces, chip evacuation, and surface finish. It is necessary to consider the design and specifications of the gear being cut to select the most suitable cutting tools. Ultimately, machining processes can be complex, and various factors come into play when determining the best approach. It's crucial to consider factors such as the type of gear, material, machine capabilities, tooling, and desired outcome when selecting the most appropriate cutting strategy.
