When you don't know the facts, you shouldn't invent ones. For instance the original inhabitants of Åland, i.e. Ahvenanmaa in Finnish, were not the same as contemporary Sámi people. Members of the Neolithic Comb Ceramic culture started settling the archipelago some 7000 years ago after the islands had begun to re-emerge from the Baltic Sea having been pushed down by the weight of the continental ice sheet of Weichselian glaciation. Two Neolithic cultures met on the archipelago. They were the Comb Ceramic culture and the later Pit-Comb Ware culture, which spread from the west. The word ahva belongs to the proto Finnic language spoken around the Northern end Eastern reaches of the Baltic Sea more than 2000 years ago. Both modern Finnish and Estonian languages have the word ahven for the fish Perca fluviatilis. Finnish has also the word ahava for march wind - very useful for the production of dry fish. Since the waters around Åland have been always rich in fish, it's easy to see where the name of the archipelago originates. Actually it's the Finnish name Ahvenanmaa, which derives from the word ahva. Christianity came to Åland by the year 1000 C.E. What comes to the pictures used in this video, some of them are not from Åland. For instance there are no fjells nor mountains and there's no taiga forest on Åland.

I was trying to find most of the mistakes. 0:27 that is most likely from Lapland. At least 1000 kilometers away. 1:10 that is nor Vårdö in Åland, that is Vardø in norhteastern Norway. Over 1200 km away. The other islands before that shot are most likely from Åland but not those places as the text and narration says. 3:12-3:18 WHAT is that? The Alps? Definitely not from Finland at all. 3:19 That is Gira waterfalls in India. 3:30 That's Barnhouse settlement in Orkney, Scotland. 4:34 That cave is in Kirkkonummi, southern Finland. Not in Åland. 5:25 Probably from Norway. At least definitely not Åland. 5:40 again footage at least 1000 kilometers away. 5:51 Not all. They can have vanity plates too. And that not "A", it's Å pronounced like "A" in English word "all". 6:53 Flamingos? What the heck? That photo is from India and flamingos don't exist in northern Europe. 7:42 Swedish, not Russian. About at 8 minutes I gave up.

While you are technically correct (I'll take your word for it), you miss the point: these are not meant to be taken as photos of the islands; they're just stock filler photos. I will bet you the producers knew they aren't photos of the Åland Islands.

In the Nordic countries, there are very few animals that are dangerous to humans. I haven't heard about bears in Åland, but moose kan be dangerous. There's one venomous snake. It's a viper, Vipera berus. But, very few people actually die getting bitten. Mosquitos, yes, for sure.

The amount of misinformation is irritating. 00:07-10, 01:28, 06:10-14, 11:43-45, 15:44-50 Where's that? I don't recognise the place. Extremely beautiful, but probably not in Åland. 00:27 That doesn't look like anywhere in Åland. 01:09 No, Föglö. 01:10 That doesn't look like anywhere in Åland. 01:33 I want that one. 03:12-21 That doesn't look like anywhere in Åland. 03:28-35 That doesn't look like anywhere in Åland. 04:34 Where's that? I don't recognise the place. Probably not in Åland. 05:23-26 That doesn't look like anywhere in Åland. 05:40-44 That doesn't look like anywhere in Åland. 05:50-54 Not A but Å. Some have personalised plates. 06:54 Flamingos? They're not native to the country. 09:09 That doesn't look like anywhere in Åland. 09:19-29 That doesn't look like anywhere in Åland. 09:31-41 The "daler" coins were deemed illegal when they attempted to issue it in 1991. It was never an official currency. The daler coins were in circulation but only exists as collector's items/souvenirs. The Finnish mark was the official currency of Åland until 1st July 2002, for a time coexisting with the euro (official currency from 1st Jan. 1999 but with coins and notes in use from 1st Jan. 2002). 10:28 The prices are correspondingly higher as well. 10:44 Horrible pronunciation. It's a hard g and silent t in "berget"; open o in "Godby". 12:57 That is NOT Södragatan. It's the walk path between Norra Esplanadgatan and Storagatan (formerly Södra Esplanadgatan) (seen to the right), looking west. 13:38 Tax-free sales on the ferries started long before that. 14:27 Not from Åland. 14:43-48 Where's that? I don't recognise the place. Probably not in Åland. 15:21 Foreign? No, official/national! 17:35 Then show us pictures from Haraldsby in Saltvik! That's Strandgatan (with Bussplan, formerly Ålandsplan) in Mariehamn, just outside the library. The police station showed is now torn down and replaced. 18:53 I want that one (if the aforementioned one isn't available).
