I m French/ American living in the States, i have been to Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and France (Duh!) but never to Luxembourg shame on me. We will go next time we visit Europe. I m also surprised to hear in the video that the French speaking people do not have an accent. If they spoke to me in France i would think they are French unlike a French Canadian or a French speaking Swiss which are noticed. Nice looking country 👍🏻
@karolean83429 ай бұрын
Native Luxembourgers that speak French have a small Germanic accent. But many Luxembourgers have one or two naturally French-speaking parents. And many people in Luxembourg are French or Belgians workers. Hence the lack of accent.

@@karolean8342 small? 😆 Many locals barely speak to be honest. It's mostly foreigners and their children that speak good French. For anyone interested in the Luxemburgish French accent, try to find "La Blanche-Neige" read in a Luxembourgish accent here on KZbin. It's fantastic and SO well made. 😆

@@huskytail Well I'm not a local but I've met many born in Luxembourg with full citizenship born to one or two French-speaking parents and speaking French without any accent.

@@mrpeel3239 We still speak Luxemburgish but in the main city you will find less people who actually speak it. Over there people will usually talk to you in French even if they know Luxemburgish, unless of course you talk to them in Luxemburgish first. Chances are much higher that you will find people who know how to speak French rather than Luxemburgish, which means that people just default to French if they don"t already know that the person they are speaking too also speaks Luxemburgish.
@FeuxShards2 жыл бұрын
Luxembourgish is mostly spoken outside of the city, meaning, in small towns like Steinfort, Capellen, Junglinster, Vianden, Diekirch and so on. In the city center they mostly speak french or german. However, I encountered often that 70% people prefer to speak french there and if you go in east side where Grevenmacher, Wasserbillig or Remich is, they speak more german than french.

Is this really the richest nation in the world? Judging by its city landscape, it seems worse than Japan and the Asian Tigers. Additionally, the people don't have the affluent appearance you would expect, and the food looks unimpressive. I have mentioned before that GDP or GDP per capita is not a perfect measurement of a nation's prosperity. Even a city like Singapore, which claims to be the best not only among the Asian Tigers but also in Asia, is far from being a utopia. In fact, many people complain about it being boring, hot, humid, and expensive. This brings me to my next point: why doesn't a wealthy nation like Luxembourg have any Disney or Universal Studios, or any tourist theme parks or public entertainment centers? Throughout the year, except for public holidays, the government or local public institutions could afford to take a loss, hoping that during public holidays, they would recoup all the losses.
