Mardin is our next destination in our journey we embarked from Diyarbakır. Suffice to say that Mardin enchanted us. While walking in the historical texture of the city with works from Artuquid architecture, one can easily feel like embarking on a journey to the past.
One of the most beautiful features of Mardin is probably that Turks, Kurds, Assyrians, Arabs, Yazidis, Armenians, Christians, and Muslims are all living in peace and harmony.
In this video, we will talk about the history of Mardin, the culture it contains, and places to visit.
Among the places we saw in Mardin are the Great Mosque of Mardin, Kasımiye Madrasa, Zinciriya Madrasa, Deyrulzafaran Monastry, old Mardin houses, Mardin Protestant Church, and Dara Ruins.
Besides, we are invited into an Assyrian house and the owner of the house will tell us how they make the Assyrian wine.
Among the information you can find in this video is as follows:
00:00 Introduction
01:15 The importance of the Silk Road for Mardin.
03:33 Where does the name “Mardin” come from?
05:02 Süryaniler kimdir? Who are Assyrians?
