Love your painting, very nice... Its common name derives from the belief that Judas Iscariot hanged himself from this tree species after he betrayed Jesus. The alternative names called the Love Tree, due to its large, heart-shaped leaves or Redbud. The Latin name Cercis is rather more prosaic - it comes from the Greek. The Judas tree symbolize = Betrayal and forgiveness are the heavy whispers among its branches, a nod to its namesake, Judas Iscariot. in literature, symbolizes the complex intertwining of faith, politics, and the fear of betrayal.

Sitting in my backyard, listening to the birds, while I watch you paint this lovely tree! I have never seen one to my knowledge, but am happy to learn that they are native to southern Ontario where I live. They’re also called The Redbud tree. 😊

I live in Provence and these trees were blooming about a month ago. I also wanted to paint them, but the huge amount of flowers intimidated me and I never did 😅 you broke it down so well for me, now I don’t feel so intimidated. I love your style of painting so much! ❤

Continue to enjoy watching you work. I absolutely loved my experience at River Cottage. Unfortunately, I had an off painting day. I can do so much better. Onward and upward.
