Thanks for the tutorial! I was wondering how to make my bubble skirt more full because I’m using a flowy cotton voile. I wouldn’t want the tulle teaching my skin so would you recommend sandwiching it between the two layers?
@patterningcreativehadleydike6 ай бұрын
Yes I would put it in between the layers for sure. You could also flatline the tulle to the outer layer to help provide stability and fullness.

So how imporant is using an actual tailors ham? Ive been using my stuffed animals as tailors hams for ironing purposes bc ive been resistant to buying one.
@bitchskateboards10 ай бұрын
U can make/sew a tailors ham from some scraps & poly fil
@patterningcreativehadleydike10 ай бұрын
I have also used random items when a ham is not available. It can be a very fun way to problem solve! You can also make your own hams like bitchskateboards said. It can be a great way to get rid of some scraps.
@patterningcreativehadleydike10 ай бұрын
Yep!
@hannahofhorror10 ай бұрын
Just be careful that your stuffed animals aren’t made from polyester or other synthetic fibre or you might melt them. I personally don’t use my ham super frequently, but when I do need it for a project it’s been irreplaceable to me. I personally think they’re worth it, or maybe you can make one with cotton scraps.
@bitchskateboards10 ай бұрын
@@hannahofhorror yep I second this! B very careful using the ham on synthetic material! if you do need press synthetic make sure to set the iron to the “synthetic” setting if thats a kind of iron you use!

Hello! I am permanently separating a balloon skirt and beading the outer layer by hand and wanted to know as to how I would finish the raw gathered hem edge? It has folds, and I don't want to disrupt the design.
@patterningcreativehadleydike10 ай бұрын
Sounds like a great project. Are you hoping that it with turn back into a balloon skit hem? Or are you good with it looking like a circle skirt hem. There are many different ways you can finish the hem it only depends on what you mean by disrupt the design?
@violetadominguez663210 ай бұрын
@@patterningcreativehadleydike yes I was just separating the layers but was wondering if it would stay a bubble hem or if it really needed the lining layer attached?
@patterningcreativehadleydike10 ай бұрын
@@violetadominguez6632 To keep the hem looking like a bubble hem you will need to reattach the inner shorter lining. That makes it so that no stitch lines are seen at all and the fabric is pulled up.
@violetadominguez663210 ай бұрын
