The GLOW Accountable Community for Health shall endeavor to improve the health and wellness of residents in the Greater Longview area and surrounding communities. This will be accomplished through collaborative efforts with major stakeholders in the community representing hospital systems, primary care, behavioral health, first responders, and community organizations. The GLOW ACH will improve processes to more effectively and efficiently meet the needs of people.
Created in 2020 with the support of a grant from the Episcopal Health Foundation, GLOW is initially focused on the necessary interventions with "high" utilizers of emergency services who either call 911 or self-report to Emergency Departments rather than accessing more appropriate areas of assistance. These individuals might call 911 for a variety of reasons, many of which fall within social determinants of health categories and/or access emergency departments at Longview's 2 hospitals, once again for non-emergent reasons.
The GLOW Collaborative includes Gregg County, the City of Longview (which serves as the Backbone Organization for the initiative,) Christus Good Shepherd Health Systems, Longview Regional Medical Center, Community Healthcore, Special Health Resources, and the Greater Longview United Way. Wellness Pointe joined the Collaborative in the Spring of 2023.
