भगवान राम और श्रीकृष्ण को धरती पर आए भले ही लाखों साल बीत गए हों, लेकिन धरती पर सतयुग की सीढ़ियां आज भी मौजूद हैं। ऐसा मानना है कि ये सीढ़ियां सीधे स्वर्ग तक ले जाती हैं। सेंट्रल रेलवे स्टेशन से 30 किलोमीटर दूर एक छोटी सी जगह 'बिठूर' है। यहीं पर वाल्‍मीकि का आश्रम है, जहां बैठकर उन्होंने रामायण की रचना की थी। इसी आश्रम में सीता ने लव-कुश नाम के दो बेटों को जन्म दिया था।
