Probably not but it's worth a try if you have the free time to wast but I'd suggest looking up the mines in your area to actually figure out if you may be closer to gold than others but really best bet is to get rights to mine at one of the many unused mines they cost money witch is why they have sat abandoned and available for some time now

How does someone begin and start looking for spots ?
@GetTheGold777
@GetTheGold777 Жыл бұрын
There are so many resources to choose from. The first thing I would do is search for old gold mines from your area. They are most likely from the late 1800s and no longer in use. Hike out to these locations and look around. Were there streams nearby? If yes this will be your best starting point. Find the stream/creek/river and study how "gold falls" in a stream. It's heavy and follows a fairly consistent pattern. Start with that.

I live in North Potomac, near the old Maryland Gold Mine at Great Falls, MD. I know I can't prospect there because its on federal park land, but do you know where I possibly could do some prospecting and testing out some experimental equipment?
@GetTheGold777
@GetTheGold777 Жыл бұрын
I've been thinking about your question. I believe the best place to test it out would be on a claim in Virginia. Have you looked into the Central Virginia Gold Prospectors (CVGP)? When you join (It's like $15 or something) they will send you everything you need in order to use their claims. The address is CVGP.net. I've been a member in the past but never used a claim. If you join, and want to go to a claim, I'll rejoin the CVGP and would be more than happy to go with you.

@@GetTheGold777 Sorry it took so long to reply. Been busy with other projects and may not be able to get back to this gold project for a bit. Did take a look at the CVGP site and might contact them later. Better to experiment at a real claim site than other options. One of my other projects will also help out with a trommel issue. If it works, will really have something new to test out. Keep in touch and happy gold hunting!

@GetTheGold777
@GetTheGold777 Ай бұрын
First thing I would do is find out where the closed gold mines are located in your area. Maybe there is one on or near your property. If yes, I would start prospecting downstream of the mine, on the inside turn of the creek. Even if there is no mine I would check anyways. Look into Jeff Williams videos on KZbin. He is a geologist who searches and finds gold. I learned a lot watching his videos. He’s also a character and a lot of fun to watch. Please tell me if you find gold. I love a success story.

Interestingly I’m currently vacationing at the Eastern shore at Bethany Beach and Rehoboth Beach. I was going to hunt around today for some concentrations of black sand on the beach and see if it contains any gold. I have no plans to remove any of the sand, but I’m curious if there is flour gold.

Where can you go thats not private property? And then some spots that are public property, digging isnt allowed. Lots of areas are private property in that area.

@asdaven1
@asdaven1 Күн бұрын
@GetTheGold777 Was wondering if there is any Public parks or property where it was allowed or at least not officially prohibited. I know the Virginia side of Great Falls has a couple places like that like Scott's Run Park. But apparently gold panning is prohibited there. Technically almost anywhere in the United States , private property owners do not own the water of any water ways or ponds just the land around it at most. So hypothetically you can access a creek or river at a public park and wade upstream or downstream as long as you don't get out on the bank. However, this gets tricky because one many private property owners don't know this law and will call the authorities anyhow and then the police officer might not know the law either and you end up in trouble. And there is a variation of this rule state to state. Some states it is the waterway has to be navigable to count . And if it's not, then the whole waterway can be private property. What navigable is varies too. Id imagine if the creek can float a canoe it counts as navigable in most places. Other states a drainage ditch may count. But then if it's not private, then the waterway is public and subject to public rules. I'm not sure what Marylands definition is on this.
@dryuriuspapers2020

Not sure where this is, but Gold Prospecting in MD is extremely difficult as most State Law prohibits any kind of mining (even panning). You pretty much have to be on private land in MD.

Did you do on private property or state owned land? I was w my son a few years ago on the remains of a large hard rock gold mine at intersection of falls rd and mcarthur blvd that I believe it is national park property, it was fenced but it was interesting to see. Up until a few yrs ago in the park’s visitor center there was a really cool cabinet with gold found in the park. I m told It was taken down and stored somewhere. From what I’ve read that old mine remnants used to be one of the largest underground mines in the region up until the gold rush in CA. I thing articles say that something like 5,000 oz came out of it.

How much $ for equipment?
@GetTheGold777
@GetTheGold777 Жыл бұрын
The cost of the equipment varies in price. I buy equipment made in the United States, Canada, or Australia. All three countries put out quality products. The golden rule (no pun intended) applies: You Get What You Pay For. If you buy cheap, you'll get cheaply made products. Pay a little extra for quality and you'll never regret it.
