I use to play double bass then switch to bass guitar. It actually not that different, you have harmonics on both, you think same when comes theory, the biggest change is just how you hold it and slap for bg

Thank you! Finally just a nice simple pattern I can use to start practicing some walking basslines, I’m a rockabilly/bluegrass bassist but I still find jazz skills very important and obviously they translate to other genres

Could you explanin the theory behind playing the minor second on a flatted/diminished fifth chord, like the Am7b5 here? And could you also tell what to play on a chord with a raised/augmented fifth, e.g. a A7#5?
@DiscoverDoubleBass7 жыл бұрын
Hi Mats, the Aminor 7b5 chord is derived from the Lorcian mode which has a b9, b7. It's also the II chord in the minor II V I progression. With augmented you have a few options, but I like the altered scale which is also know as super locrian or diminished whole tone. It's the 7th mode of the melodic minor scale. I hope that helps, cheers Geoff

Geoff! This collection of videos is brilliant, the free stuff is so useful. As a beginner bassist I'm considering starting one of your paid courses. Out of interest, do you know of any similar platform online that is as detailed as what you're doing here with bass learning for piano learning? Any info is much appreciated. Thanks for all the videos! :D
