I think there’s just a difference in purpose and vibe between the two groups. Le Sserafim is obviously performance based and very hard hitting and power. NewJeans is meant to bring back some of the old-school, fun, relaxed and nostalgic vibe.

I wouldn’t pin Lesserafim to just hard hitting/ power songs because their b-sides actually have a nice variety. Sour Grapes, Impurities, and even Good Parts are solid examples of tracks that stray away from that. One thing is certain about both groups though. They put out really good music and that alone should be appreciated.

@@demonslayer4951 thank you so much, this is basic information about the group that isn’t hard to verify. even the fandom name, fearnot is derived from biblical angels who would say “be not afraid,” or “fear not!” when they appeared to humans. what i love about their name is how it has a double meaning. just like their fandom name fearnot is written as 피어나(pieona) which means bloom in korean. this is to signify their roles as “angels” in our lives who help us bloom into our best selves.

As someone who works in the industry, let me tell you - it's videos like these where you see that the company does have budget. The seemingly simple videos actually have a LOT of work going on. Impurities, for example, uses a MASSIVE LED screen and everything from the lighting to the camera angles scream budget.

NewJeans actually has two Australian members, Danielle and Hannie. Hanni is full Vietnamese but she was raised in Australia, while Danielle is half Korean and Australian-her mom is full Korean and dad is full Austrailian. But yes, all the members can speak korean and english really well.

You can definitely tell that there is a different focus for both groups. NewJeans is more vibes and school girl fun. While Le sserafim was trained to be a performance group. So far with the award show season I’ve enjoyed both groups. They both have tremendous stage presence. But you can tell that Le sserafim is on a different level in terms of both maturity and skills.

Id like to address what CC said bc she hit it right on the head about them looking like they haven’t made their money yet? That’s actually the whole point. Of course you can’t show her every single video and I actually appreciate you doing the performance version of attention versus the Mv, as I feel like a lot of reactors get caught in the cheeky story line and the diverse cast rather than the song and the girlies. But that’s the whole point of New Jeans and how they were marketed. They’re supposed to look like 5 girls in a friend group that started a band together. Their outfits are always kind of out there (unless for cookie) as if they didn’t have a stylist and were just 5 teenagers wearing what they feel. In the Mv there’s even a shopping montage for their “final performance” outfits. But it makes sense why they just dropped the MVs and nothing else. What 5 random teens have the budget to do promo? I also think they were even TRAINED to perform that way as a lot of people mention that they perform with a sort of lackadaisical-ness thatd you see in a young up and coming group who “makes their own choreo” etc. I also think they do A LOT with their styling. They are def trying to emulate multiple decades while still having the campy(?) feeling of ridiculous idol clothing. And yes Danielle is half white (her father is australian i believe). As much as I love new jeans i’m so fucking happy CC loves Le sserafim!!! I just may stan, Im giving them one more comeback.

she's overly critical. yes they are emulating 90s/2000s but seems like she wants a full throwback to the fashion and style. doesn't seem to realise newjeans are bringing the retro styling into 2022 by updating it. what's the point in 1:1 recreating something that's already been done in the past. newjeans seem to be inspired by the retro aesthetic while still wearing updated pieces and trendy brands rn like diesel and chrome hearts. no point in wearing full archive fits looking like the spice girls. she's being critical, imposing her own, entirely different concept for the group instead of realising what hybe is trying to do w newjeans and acknowledging it. there's a reason why so many kpop fans fw newjeans and find them refreshing.

Le Sserafim is slowly becoming one of my favorite groups, the girls are just so good at performing and their facial expressions are on point. New Jeans on the other end I think they have really good sounding music BUT I am with the small group of people that thinks they are too young to be sent to the industry. The girls are talented and gorgeous but honestly, seeing these 2 groups next to each other you can see how powerful Le Sserafim is dancing and performing while still having amazing vocals, I don't know, maybe New Jeans could have benefitted more from 1-2 more years training, either way, each groups is growing a steady and nice fans base and they are doing amazing.

While it may not be universal, NewJeans’s concept for hype boy and attention were heavily inspired by Western fashion from the 90’s and 00’s. She was just pointing out that seeing elements from different time periods put together was unusual.

I feel like when groups like that come out of the West, they are almost never geared for choreo/performance. And it's a shame because Flo has vocals for sure, but what drove me from Western pop to K-Pop is the performance/choreo element as well as the fact that K-Pop still spends money to make visually appealing videos. Western pop kinda stopped spending decent money on music videos after the 2000's. I think it'll be hard to have a Western pop group have a similar performance element like K-Pop does because the West will never have a full blown trainee system like Korea does (and there's both upsides and downsides to that fact). So it makes finding artists who both can sing well and dance well really rare in the West because it's something they have to already be into on their own before getting signed to a label.

I agree, i haven't seen a lot of New Jeans live performance videos, but the few i've seen you can see they're still figuring out nailing the charisma, facial expressions, and just feeling comfortable on stage (which is ok, they're doing great for how new they still are). But yeah the experience difference between New Jeans and Le Sserafim really shows on stage. I think New Jeans will grow into it though. Like i could see New Jeans growing into being a performance group in like 2 years after they mature as performance (and age wise) a little more and they're ready to move on from the current 2000's nostalgia era.

NewJeans is Min Hee Jin's project group (she was a creative director in SM who became famous for viral concepts). But a lot of fans nowadays aren't familiar with 1st gen girl groups who were largely influenced by the U.S., specifically HipHop/R&B. Bang PD of BigHit has said numerous times that he admired the big 3, specifically their early models, and always wanted one of his own. So, NewJeans isn't actually revolutionary; it's basically the sound, styling, concepts of famous 1st gen girl groups - which is why they sound new to GenZ (target audience) and nostalgic to Millennials/GenX in Korea. I personally can't get into them because, well, imagine forming a group using TLC and Destiny's Child as a model and basing some of the new group's stuff on very real, difficult things those 2 groups actually experienced, only it's a marketing scheme that gives them instant fame and they will never actually experience those hardships. Not the girls' fault obviously, but it's a little sketchy.
