I second nearly every comment listed here. I have enjoyed pulling up some of these older episodes while on a summer break. It was an eye-opener to see the eclipse in this one, good job on that.. really cool. I think I did see an episode that featured the eclipse before, but now I see there is a whole series on that trip! Always appreciate being introduced to small towns, beaches, restaurants etc. all with your particular take on things. Never gets old. 2024 should be another fun eclipse adventure down south or even Mexico. If you get a chance this summer, at least for your own enjoyment, I hope you might catch the Perseid meteor showers on a time lapse, those tiny fragments of space dust can leave seconds long streaks in the night sky, and produce upwards of 60 Perseids per hour. I’ve seen more than that in years past. The peak is just around the corner. This was another fun vlog to start the day with. Looking forward to the current season bringing fresh content well into the fall… That’s a good thing! Out of all the years you’ve documented so far, 2023 will certainly be at the top. ♾️Thank you for all the hard work.♾️

My gosh! We have traveled in the same areas! Three years ago I camped at one of the bigger campgrounds at Land Between the Lakes, a few miles from the west entrance. There is a guide map you can buy for the self-guided cemetery tour. And yeah, I accidentally got my 35 footer down one of those dirt roads. I made it down to the end, turned around, and made it back in one piece, though. I really want to go back to the area someday, it's beautiful country. Except for the mosquitos.... LOL

Actually, the woodland nature reserve is pretty cool. They have animals from around the area and will even bring some up close for you to see. They even show the red wolves and how they are trying to teach people the difference between those and coyotes so they can make a comeback from extinction. So it was not lame really. Unless you don't like animals and don't care about saving them.

Good job on the eclipse. I was in Oregon and we had nicer weather. But oregon was right about the traffic. After the eclipse, the main street in the town of 6000 was blocked till sunset. You got lucky, probably on the account of forecast of clouds. I had friends who moved west 600km the night before to avoid clouds so that could explain why turn out was under expectations where you were. Best of luck in 2024. Looks like Texas will be your best bet with 90% clear average weather.
@TravelingRobert5 жыл бұрын
Can't wait.
@patricescattolin435 жыл бұрын
@@TravelingRobert To give you an idea of where you can get the better odds of clear skies on the elipse path, look at these statistics of cloud covers month per month (scroll to the middle of the page) eclipsophile.com/global-cloud-cover/ and compare them to the elipse path: www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/map/2024-april-8 . Being mobile is of great help, especially if you can move the day before when the forecast is accurate enough to be reliable and the roads still clear from traffic. From memory Texas had the best odds clear weather that day. The north-east the worst (at around 50%) For the record, the east part of Oregon where I was, was prepared for eclipse with porta-potties, t-shirts and extortionous rates for hotels or camp sites. I would expect the same in Texas.
@patricescattolin435 жыл бұрын
So you might want to do a reconaissance trip a year or 2 in advance to find the spots where you want to setup. Keep in mind that weather (clouds) can be 500km to 1000km wide so if you want to have multiple alternatives, that's how far appart you need to think about them. The primary secret of successfull eclipse chasing is mobility, to move away from the clouds when you have a good idea of where they will be that day. That explains why eclipse cruises are usually successfull. Because it's easy to move a boat 300km the night before the event when you know where the cloud will be when you are in the middle of an uncluttered ocean. That can be harder to do on the road, but being prepared will help. Good luck.
