One of the many beauties of Sanskrit is that, unlike English, which primarily is dental (most forward part), Sanskrit uses the entire mouth, from throat forward (think "aah" and where it comes from in mouth), including the upper palate. Is a reason that correct pronunciation of certain 't' and 'd' sounds can be tricky for Westerners, who did not use this prior to age 6. Lack of exposure in early childhood to the sound is reason I am not able to trill 'r', which is pretty essential for Sanskrit, Hindi, Spanish. There ARE youtube videos for help with this, though basically, I'm faking it. My second and primary teacher for Sanskrit was my Jyotish guru, Hart de Fouw, to whom I am ever grateful for instruction. Achala rocks, as well.
